I set the tent up easy as pie. The instructions were easy to follow. It was well packed for shipping. Only problem I found was the stichiing was sorry some of the seams opened up during set up others after the first use I have had to sew and seal three spots so far. No telling how many more I will find with extended use
- How accurate was the sizing? perfect
- Please tell us about the quality of the product. Quality in ok the sticking was bad in some spots
- Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? No
My husband and I purchased this tent to take our annual Family Camping trip to Big Bone National State Park, with our children. After reading the reviews, it was between this tent and a Coleman tent. With a bad experience in the past with missing poles from a Coleman tent, we went with the TexSport. Big Mistake! The Tent sat up fairly easy, for the size tent that it is. We had 2 adults doing the physical labor and 1 adult reading off the directions. As far as assembling the tent, we had no issues, and there did not APPEAR to be any manufacturer defects. We snuggled in for the night, my husband and I, my brother, our 3 children and my brothers child. It must have started raining in the middle of the night sometime, which I could hear at one point in time.. Suddenly we were awoken by our 1.5 year old son crying and screaming!! We all jumped up, as he is normally a very heavy sleeper! Only to see that my poor baby was sobbing wet. His clothes, sleeping bag, cot. As were nearly the entire floor of the tent. The other children were wet a little here and there also, but all of our blankets and pillows were sobbing wet!! I searched to make sure we didn't leave open a window or such. No, nothing! It was dark and in the middle of the night and half asleep. There was no possible way to stay and spend the rest of the night in a sobbing wet tent with sobbing wet bedding with my children. I packed my kids up and quickly packed up our belongings, since it was raining, things got misplaced and lost. Quicky took down the tent and threw what we could fit into a garbage bag. There was no way I was standing out in the rain to try to find something to fit the entire tent into, nor was I putting a soaking wet tent into my new vehicle. So, we put it under the pick-nick table and decided to come back for it. We took an hour long drive home in the middle of the night, while it was raining, with a bunch of crying and upset, WET children, because their once-a-year camping trip was cut short to only one evening!! Went back for the tent that afternoon, it was gone!! But I had marked it as a loss anyways, what use was it to me, I definatly didnt want to camp with it agian!! Emailed texsport customer service. They responded quickly and said "they were very concerned with this issue, please contact them, this incident greatly concerns them!!" So I thought maybe they planned to "Replace" our junk tent with a new "non-leaking" tent or at least give us a cheaper one or a discount..SOMETHING FOR THE NEARLY $xxx.xx WE LOST AND FAMILY CAMPING TRIP THAT WAS COMPLETELY RUINED AT THEIR HANDS!!! BUT NO... HE SAID I WAS THE FIRST PERSON THAT HAD CALLED ABOUT THIS NEW TENT, (NO WONDER I WAS THE FIRST, IT WAS A NEW TENT, MOST PPL ARE JUST NOW USING THE TENT!!) AND THANKS FOR MY TIME!! SO NOW I HAVE JUST WASTED MORE OF MY TIME ON TEXSPORT FOR ABSOLUTLY NOTHING! SADLY, I AM NO LONGER A TexSport customer. I am not only Very upset with the quality of the product that we purchased, but I am also Very upset that their Customer Service would have me waste even more of my time just to help them with information in the end, They didn't care at all what my family had been drug through by choosing Texsport products... DO NOT BUY THIS TENT, I AM WARNING YOU! HOPEFULLY I JUST SO HAPPENED TO GET A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT - BUT IF NOT - THERE IS GOING TO BE ALOT OF UNHAPPY FAMILIES!
- How accurate was the sizing? very accurate
- Please tell us about the quality of the product. it appeared to be a good quality product - until it rained!!
- Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? no
I do understand that sometimes things have stitching issues-that happens with ANYTHING. However the people that were soaking wet, I can imagine didn't have a tarp under their tent(you should NEVER use a tent without a ground cover under it, if you want to remain dry when it rains). The other review doesn't state whether or not it was a stitching issue, because they lost their tent. However, overstock cannot be held responsible for all poor manufacturing, even if it was. If the bottom of the tent was wet, it's an indicator there was no ground cover. We have used this tent many, many times, with absolutely no issues. I would, and have, recommend this tent to others. In fact, it is our favorite tent for youth outings. Still, whenever you purchase anything like this, it is always wise to set it up FIRST before you intend to use it. That is the only way to determine if it is defective or not. If you are concerned about water issues, they make a sealant(which MOST people who camp, even once a year, would, and should, use for all seams). It's inexpensive and can be a lifesaver, at times. You can also try spraying your tent with a hose, to make certain all seams are sealed. I recommend that as well, regardless as to what type of tent you have. We still do this with all of our tents, especially if they have been packed away, or never used. Bottom line, it does exactly what it should, it sets up easily, and is absolutely perfect for us!
