  • Quality did not meet description

    Aug 9, 2014

    morrisvilleresident713  from Morrisville, PA, Rating:1.0

It was easy to assemble. Looked nice when up. Provided adequate shade and coolness. Durability was poor under natural elements. The anchor spikes were not adequate to hold down the legs. Had to purchase a heavier spike to hold down sufficiently. One heavy rain with wind took the whole canopy down.

    Incredible Bargain for Durable Tent

    May 27, 2014

    lrenzi  from New England, Rating:5.0

As a Boy Scout parent, we have been out in the wind, rain, snow and cold and this product line stands up. The Troop has very pricey*** tents, that are great, but ALPS are just as good, if not better, and half the price. We bought an older 3-man version of this in the winter of 2012 and since then we have told every camper that comes along to check out the ALPS Mountaineering line. As you can imagine, teenage boys are not exactly easy on their gear. Beyond the zipper yanking, throwing, horsing around and then a damp "just stuff it in the bag so we can get out of here" attitudes our tent has more than proved itself! Do yourself a favor and go with ALPS Mountaineering. I can't attest to their lighter backpacking tents, but their larger, what I consider car-camping models are durable, easy to set up, very rain resistant, and extremely cost effective. You would be a fool to spend your hard earned money on just a name. These guys take camping seriously, recognize what the consumer needs, an...

We camped at a little over 5000 ft. This tent only shields you from the wind, and some light rain. We had a blast, but it was just my son and I in the tent. I don't see how 6 adults could move around comfortably, if only sleeping than this tent works great. It was very, very easy to set up, took us about 5 minutes at night. On our second night the wind picked up at about 55 mph. We where not able to sleep well because of the howling wind The metal stakes the tent comes with were not up to that wind speed and the side of the tent facing the wind collapsed on us in the middle of the night, but we were still shielded from the wind, so that's a plus. I highly recommend you buy better stakes.

  • Cottonwood XLT 10 x 10 Canopy

    Oct 28, 2013

The Paha Que Cottonwood 10 x 10 XLT canopy is an outstanding canopy and versatile too. I have owned this canopy for over a year now and it is easy to set up and take down, is light weight and stores easily. There are two wind walls that roll up on the sides and are held in place with small, intact bungy style straps. One wind wall has a sewn in Keder style rope for use with a Keder rail if so desired. I have a teardrop trailer and use my canopy frequently. This is a well made product, I can use one wind wall to cover my trailer for rain and have used the opposite side to extend the canopy out to cover up a picnic table from the sun. The canopy can be raised higher by positioning the legs inward to gain additional height. The canopy can also be used for social functions as it does block the sun and it is durable. The aluminum legs have shock cords built into them which makes assembly a breeze. I place the fabric over my trailer first, insert the two long support poles through t...
