Please help me to know the difference between the clubs designated 1.0, 3.0 etc. I admit that this number must signify something important in the design and function but I'm clueless. Purchasing a set of clubs is expensive and to find the right clubs for a 58 year old player with an 18 handicap is challenging. Thank you for helping.

Golf Clubs Buying Guide
More than any other piece of golf equipment, golf clubs affect the size of your golf handicap -- and the size of your wallet -- so you want to make sure you find golf clubs that are right for your golf game. Nowadays, it is difficult to figure out which set of golf clubs is the right set. Golf club shafts used to be made from hickory but are now made from steel or carbon fiber (called graphite). Woods are no longer wood and irons are no longer iron; they're made from modern metals and alloys. This golf clubs buying guide will help you understand the characteristics and varieties of modern golf clubs, which will help you know how to buy golf clubs that best meet your needs.
Tips on Buying Golf Irons
Choosing the right golf irons for your game is crucial. You may want the most prestigious high-end driver as a status symbol, but when it comes to selecting your golf irons, what the pros use might not be right for you. Different irons are designed for different player abilities. Head design and the various materials of the head and shaft also affect the way you use them. If you're looking into getting new irons, evaluate the key features before choosing them to make sure you get the best golf irons for your game.
How to Shop for Golf Clubs Online
Of all the golf equipment you will buy, your golf clubs will cost most, so it may be a smart move to thoroughly research what styles are available to you before you make a purchase. This is especially important if you are shopping for a new golf club or golf club set online. Shopping for golf equipment online is the best way to find discount golf clubs, but it pays to read up on different kinds of clubs, since you won't be handling the clubs before you buy them. Keep reading for some tips on how to find the best golf clubs for you online.
Tips for Using Your Golf Irons
Before you can use your irons effectively, you need to understand what they are. In golf there are two types of clubs: woods and irons. The heads on woods used to be made of wood and the heads on irons used to be made of iron; both types of clubs can be made of metal these days, and steel has replaced iron as the most common material. Now that you know what irons are, read on for tips on how to use them on the course.
