Out of the box the helicopter probably flies as you'd expect. It's erratic on the controls and comes with a mind of its own. Quite often it just starts rotating 360 out of control because the rotation of the dual-blades isn't exact and the heli is just light plastic. When I could get it to fly around in control I got a few minutes of fun out of it. Then I'd have to recharge and it would have lost its controllability again. A benefit of it is that it's light plastic and the blades aren't metal - they relax when not flying kind of like a weedwacker. This makes it crash more of less 'softly'. It doesn't have a lot of stuff that would break easily or at the speeds or heights you'll achieve. There's a lot of plastic RC helicopters out there for between $50 & $150. This is the first one I've bought and I've seen others fly. All of them aren't exactly particular on their controls so you're probably getting what you're paying for here. Mine's unusable now. The 360 spins got to a point where it's impossible to use. I'm on the hunt for something that actually takes commands.
I got this to have something to do on rainy days in the garage. I tried flying this in the house, recommend doing it in a large space. I held onto the tail and with the other hand started the engine going. I practiced on getting it too hover first, then practiced going up and down. With a larger space, I was able to do the figure 8. I did hit the ceiling a few times and landed hard on the concrete floor, The only thing I've noticed is that when its battery is starting to run down, I've loosened the top rotor, so it won't spin without a full charge, With a full charge I can get about 15 min. of fly time. And turning the garage lights down, its fun watching the led's.Very please with this purchase.Construction of the rotor, would be nice if that was beefed up, but for the price, I guess thats okay.
First RC helicopter I have owned and I love it. I can't put it down. I fly it mostly indoors most of the time because it is pretty windy here. It has taken a few crashes into the walls with out any damage to helicopter or the walls (knock on wood). I think the way that the blades bend out of the way when they hit something makes it more durable and causes less damaged to whatever it hits. Highly recommended!
I purchased this for my husband and we were excited to have it. In the first 10 minutes of operating it, it broke. We had to send off for replacement parts. We received the parts and it never flew right. The wing chipped when it hit the grass and it was only one foot off the ground when it fell. I purchased this product because I knew my husband would probably have some crashes and needed one that would stand up to some bad flying. After I read the reviews on how good it held up I thought I was safe but we wern't. This was a big disappointment and I wish it would have worked well and stood up to at least a little bit of wear. Now we are weary of any RC helicopters that we can't buy locally and get parts locally.
First off, my husband loves this! I bought it for him for Christmas and has been flying it non-stop. It has colorful running lights and a headlight so you can even fly it in the dark and still see where it is going. It is also very durable - (my husband has another Apache helicopter and every time that one crash lands he ends up online buying new parts from the manufacturer) but in my opinion, THIS ONE IS VIRTUALLY CRASH PROOF! He has banged this one into walls, ceilings, t.v.s, and tables while getting used to the controlls and nothing has broken - not the helicopter and not our stuff. The only negatives seem to be that the battery is permanently fixed in the body so you can't buy a spare and charge it while running the toy so the play time is limited and also when the battery gets low the 'copter gets sluggish really quickly - the rotors will spin but liftoff never occurs at that point. Overall I would say a good value for the money and a lot of fun for kids and adults!
