Product is OK for the money and for casual use. Bought them for snowshoeing and hiking. After one use they seem to be holding up OK.Read More
Two of 4 poles we purchased wouldn't hold their length adjustment. We pulled them apart and, after a few attempts to tighten the length, they seem to hold. Have only used them once for hiking but so far they're great. Nice features, especially for the money - never dreamed we'd get four poles for the price of one! Really should have an "excellent" rating but not sure some people would be comfortable taking them apart.Read More
I bought these to take to Germany. I am 64 and have severe arthritis in my lower back. I knew it would be a challenge to walk all day on cobblestones, but since this was a bucketlist trip, I had to do it! These walking poles gave me the support and relief for my back. I would say that they doubled the distance I could walk and saved me from tripping several times. Will travel with them again!Read More
This is my second pair of walking poles. These are being exchanged because the locking feature would not "twist" to lock the poles length. Will see if the new exchange pair works.Read More
These trekking poles are so much fun to use. I got them to use on regular walks because I have some back issues and I wanted to walk with a bit more stability. Once I tried them I was off and running, (well, walking)! They are sturdy, adjustable and just plain fun to use. We got snow today and I'm planning to take a walk in the snow with the snow baskets that are included. I used them so hard the first time, that my forearms were sore the next day. Clearly, you get a good upper-body workout with them too! Get 'em!Read More
I used the mighty trekking poles on a 10 mile hike through water and mud and steep rocky terrain. They came in very handy. Very durable. My only complaint is that the hand straps bled onto my hand and turned my hands black. Quick wash and the black came right off though. Also the hand grips were not as squishy as the one's my parents purchased from a higher end sports store. For the price they were a definate asset on the hike. I will be taking them on my future hikes for sure.Read More
Bought these for my husband recuperating from surgery. They worked to keep him steady instead of a cane. He only used them for a short time so I can't comment on long term use.Read More
Poles rattle noisily each time they touch the ground. Bought two pair and both were the same. Foam grips were misshaped.Read More
after realizing that I had these poles too long, (pay attention to the 90 degree angle of your arms) I started out slowly, then before I knew it, my heart was pounding and I was walking faster than I realized. These poles help propel me forward quite nicely. I went uphill with ease and back down again with the support of the poles. I am now a walking fool! They are really fun to use.Read More

How to Walk in Snowshoes
While many consider winter a time to stay indoors and "hibernate," there's no reason for a little cold and snow to stop you from exercising outside. Snowshoeing is an excellent snow sport and a great way to explore the beauty of snow-covered landscapes. Best Binding Attachments for Snowshoes
Strapping on a pair of snowshoes opens up a whole new world of winter adventure. Once you have a pair of snowshoes, you can boldly go where you have never gone before. Because they spread the surface area of your footfall, snowshoes prevent your weight from sinking into the snow, so you can get around, even in deep powder. From the first wooden snowshoes, snowshoe designs have expanded to work for a wide range of adventurers. Now you can find many snowshoes for sale, from backcountry snowshoes to running snowshoes. However, snowshoes won't do you much good without binding attachments to keep them on your feet. There are two main types of snowshoe bindings: free rotation and fixed rotation.
Snowshoe Buying Guide
When you get the itch to go for a mountain stroll, snowshoes allow you to traverse beautiful terrain otherwise inaccessible. Snowshoes spread your weight evenly across a large, flat surface area, which helps keep you "above" the snow. They won't make you float magically above the snow, but they will help out in deep powder. When you are ready to strap on a pair, use this buying guide to help figure out what would work best for you.

What to Pack for Africa's Highest Peak
Imagine that you are planning a trip that will take you from the equator to Antarctica in seven days. Now imagine that you have to limit the amount of gear you pack to 35 pounds or less. The task is getting more complicated. What kind of luggage would you choose and how would you pack for a trip that encompasses such extreme changes in climate and altitude? When Erica Davis, a paraplegic athlete, and Tara Butcher, a physically challenged athlete, climb Africa's highest peak, they will have to answer exactly those questions. The challenge: Mount Kilimanjaro rises from nearly sea level all the way up to 19,330 feet. The trail climbs from the hot bushland through rain forest, moorland, alpine desert and arctic glaciers up to the rocky Uhuru peak. A climb like Mt. Kili presents special challenges when it comes to luggage, clothing and gear. Being prepared for the weather and temperature extremes is a necessity, but it's also important not to pack too much. There is a 35-pound weight limit to each piece of luggage carried by a porter. Most climbers pack one 35-pound capacity bag to go up with a porter and one small daypack to carry up themselves. The daypack: Erica and Tara will have 7 days to summit Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro. As they pass from one ecological zone to the next, their needs will change and so will the contents of their daypacks. Each day Erica and Tara will repack their daypacks in anticipation of the specific challenges of the day's journey. In general, their daypacks will include things like water, snacks, dry clothing, waterproof gear and sunscreen. The importance of keeping clothing and gear dry cannot be overstated. When choosing a daypack, a small to medium backpack made of lightweight, moisture-resistant material that comes with a removable waterproof shell will be ideal. It's also helpful if the backpack has convenient access to a water bottle compartment or can accommodate a water bladder. Plenty of pockets, zipper compartments and hooks are also handy. What to pack: A sturdy but lightweight water-repellant duffel bag with a capacity of about 35 pounds is ideal for the trek to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The bag needs to have room for plenty of layers of breathable, moisture-wicking clothing and layers of fleece clothing, as well as a waterproof layer. To save space, it's a good idea to pack clothing that does double duty, such as pants that easily convert into shorts. Aside from clothing, the climb will also require accessories like sunglasses, hats and gloves, plus equipment like trekking poles and a headlamp, as well as toiletries like sunscreen, insect repellent and a first-aid kit. Support the Challenged Athletes Foundation: Overstock.com and the C.H.E.K Institute are co-sponsoring Erica and Tara's climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in order to raise awareness for athletes with physical challenges who wish to participate and compete in sports. Portions of the proceeds will benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF). CAF raises funds to give physically challenged athletes the opportunity to stay active and competitive in the sports they love. To show your support for physically challenged athletes like Erica and Tara, donate now to the Challenged Athletes Foundation for the Fit 4 Kili Climb.
