As soon as it was hooked up per instructions, it started spouting water through 2 tiny holes within two of the plastic tubes. Would have been a good slip-n-slide, but I had to unhook it so I didn't continue to lose water from my pool through the unit.
This product worked wonderfully! It was easy to install (even for a novice like me) and the pool temperature has risen 10 degrees in a week - making it almost too warm, but that is better than freezing in my book. Just keep in mind that your pump has to be running for this to work as the water is pumped through the solar cell to heat it up. One other thing to keep in mind, the pump pressure isn't as great when the heater is hooked up - so if you want to vaccum your pool using a pump powered vaccum, you are better off disconnecting the solar heater first; but as I said, it is really easy to hook up and disconnect.
Simple easy construction, heats up the pool nicely... Great value, easy to use..
The upside it that this solar heater worked great - heated our pool six degrees the first day. If you can set this up right next to your pump you will have it made. The downside is we had to puchase $100.00 worth of hose and fittings to set it up, could not set it up right next to the pool pump.
We are very happy with our Sunheater Aboveground-pool Solar Heater. The price was more than fair, and the quality of the Sunheater Aboveground-pool Solar Heater exceded our expectations.
If you live in a cooler climate like I do this is an excellent way to be in your pool sooner. It does exactly what it says it will do. I would highly recommend. We found that (during the sunniest parts of the day) if you run the pump in short intervals, giving the mat a chance to heat back up (as the water cools it down), it works much better.
i modified the product for my inground pool. i have a jet that feeds directly into the solar panel which i placed on the deck of the pool. it does warm the water very well and it also works as a slip mat for the kids...
