If your pool cleaner gets stuck on the main drain cap, this drain cover might be part of the solution, but it's not the complete answer. It does make it easier for the cleaner to climb over and around the drain cap, but ours still gets hung up about 50% of the time. Not exactly what we'd bargained for. May just be our drain cap, but I don't think so. The ring needs to be another 1/2" - 1" thicker to prevent the hangups.
well - it would work great if it would stay in place. i have to daily put the "smart ring" back in place as it does not suction to the pool floor - my vacuum ends up on top of the main drain every day which was the purpose of purchasing the "Smart Ring" - guess I was not so smart to think it would work. hummmm
I wish there was a review of this product I could find before I purchased this. My haward (and I understand many) automatic pool cleaners get stuck on the pool drain (not due to suction). I was frustrated since I can't babysit the cleaner every day. I thought this would be the answer. It came in many pieces to put together (I didn't like that but did it). It fits loosely over the drain (it probably needs more weights. The pool vac just comes along and more often than not, pushes it right off and away from the drain. So now the cleaner gets stuck on both the drain and other times on the cover. It was the worse thing I ever bought. and now I'm still bewildered as what I can do to fix this problem without having to hire another pool company to clean my pool
