Great raft... Bad Oars

Anonymous from Vancouver, WA, Jul 17, 2008

I bought this boat for going on a river rafting/fishing trip down the John Day river in Oregon. The two part oars were no match for rocks and rapids. I snapped an oar in half the first day of the trip and prior to actually losing it, kept having to re-tighten the two pieces together. Thankfully, I was able to be towed the rest of the trip. The boat itself did great!! I had two young adults with me who jumped in and out of the boat thus filling it with about an inch of water and the self-bailer came in handy and worked pretty well. We scraped over quite a few rough rocks and the boat never was punctured and barely looks scraped on the bottom. I was able to stand up with no problem in order to fly-fish. It would be great if the raft had a rowing rack rather than the none-moving oar rings attached to the side of the boat. For the price though, I was very happy with what I got except for the oars. Providing one-piece oars would be better for this boat. Can't wait to use it again!
