This heart rate monitor works accurately about 60% of the time. I use it primarily for swimming and running. When I'm in the water swimming laps, it often takes about 3 minutes to find my heartbeat. Sometimes it will register my heart rate at 262 beats per minute when I'm swimming at a 30 second lap pace. Othertimes it won't be able to find my heart rate at all (despite wetting the strap, etc). This monitor will drive you crazy.Read More
My personal trainer recommended this model to me for our workouts. I have used it three times a week since I purchased it. It tracks calories burned as well as monitors my heart rate during exercise and the numbes are large enough to read easily. The monitor strap is easily washed when needed. Run the mesh part of the band under the tap to fully wet it before wearing the monitor so there is good contact from the band to the watch from the very start to get an accurate calories and heart rate reading. Don't wait to work up a sweat for it to work. Very comfortable to wear--even under a sports bra.Read More
Great price. Biggest plus is that it is easy to read while I am working out. Drawback is that it uses the snap on chest strap and I like the old style.Read More
Wearing this monitor during workouts has changed EVERYTHING! I love being able to see where I am at in terms of calorie burn right in the middle of the workout. I also the love the option to be notified whether or not I am in my cardio zone so I can amp things up when necessary. The set up was also REALLY EASY. Follow the directions and you are up and running! Its also a lot more attractive than most of the monitors that I have seen so that is a definite plus.Read More
This is my first monitor watch and it's great. Polar was recommended as a brand and item works consistently and shows target range , calories burned, etc. Easy to start and stop and review your stats. If you are looking for other features that track pace for running or spinning, look for a different model. This also does not link to the polar training website, so you would have to manually enter your information.Read More

How to Choose a Heart Monitor
If you're having trouble dropping weight or increasing fitness, heart monitors can aid your personal fitness and health program. These devices allow you to view your heart rate so you can make any necessary adjustments to your workout or lifestyle. Heart monitors, also called heart rate monitors, may be simple devices the size of a wristwatch or a more complex unit with multiple functions. To choose a heart rate monitor, consider your health and fitness goals and decide which heart monitor features yours should have to help you meet your fitness goals.
How to Use a Heart Monitor
A heart-rate monitor is a simple device no more cumbersome than your average wristwatch, but its technology is of great value to fitness buffs of all levels. Heart monitors work by giving a read out of your heart rate -- and this is valuable information for beginners who want to make sure that the intensity of their aerobic and fitness activities put them in a calorie-burning, fat-melting zone.
Best Ways to Use Your Heart Monitor
A heart-rate monitor is one of the most useful pieces of exercise equipment you can buy. And while it is very easy to strap on your heart monitor and measure your heart rate, you may not be getting the most out of your heart monitor. Depending on what benefits you want to get out of your workout, you will want your heart rate to be in a different range. Knowing the heart-rate target zones will help you benefit the most from your workouts. And many heart-rate monitors can be set to trigger an alarm when you reach or leave a heart-rate zone, letting you focus on your training.

Treadmills vs Elliptical Trainers
New variations of tried-and-true exercise machines are always being introduced to the market as the technology of exercise equipment improves. Two exercise machines that have gained popularity are elliptical trainers and treadmills. A major advantage to elliptical trainers is that they possess little risk of injury to the knees, hips, back or ankles. Meanwhile, treadmills are home gym machines on which you can run, walk or jog. The treadmill has been in the marketplace for a long time and is a long-standing piece of standard equipment for most exercise enthusiasts. Elliptical Machines: Elliptical machines present a lower risk of injury to the body. This home gym machine allows the individual to stand in an upright position while supporting her upper body by holding onto the handrails. The individual is able to pick out what muscles to train by shifting the strength on the legs or the arms. This provides for a more flexible workout machine. The machine bears its name because it works to copy the foot's elliptical motion as well as the rotation of the hip during walking or running. Advantages of Elliptical Machines: Since elliptical machines work the upper and lower body, they help you reach your target heart rate more optimally, providing a better cardiovascular workout overall. Individuals can burn a larger number of calories in a shorter period of time. Muscles that benefit from this machine include the legs, shoulders, chest, biceps, triceps and the back. Elliptical machines are also relatively easy to operate and are energy efficient because they do not use much electricity. Treadmills: Traditional treadmills were developed to help you walk, run or jog. Treadmills differ in advantages as there are some machines that have programs that can be customized based on your weight and fitness level. You can also manually control the program to increase or decrease the speed, the incline or the duration of the workout. Walking on a traditional treadmill, however, creates more impact on the knees and hips and may be a cause of injury for some users. Advantages of Treadmills: Some treadmill models have a cushioned surface to support the knees and other parts of the body. With these models, there is a lower risk of injury and an increased level of comfort for the user. Moreover, treadmills provide you with the option to run, jog or walk in the comfort of the gym. Also, you can burn calories by increasing the heart rate, providing a good cardiovascular workout. Buy Home Gym Machines Back to Guides Directory Buy Home Gym Machines
