This was given as a gift,but,the person lives in my home so I can give a review.I read the description before buying & yet I was surprised at how big & durable it was.I gave the giftee a chuck wagon cook book earlier &this was to be a gag.He uses it all the time.I'm surprised the whole block doesn't come running to our house for "grub".

This went right to the trash. It might be usefull if you had an elderly member of the household who was slightly hearing challenged and was sitting in the same room, but for anything else, it won't be heard. The painting comes off with each strike, and probably serves only to mute the ring. Don't waste your time with any "Sportsman Series" product.

It looks just like the old chuckwagon dinner bell. Has a nice heavy weight to it and is loud enough to be heard pretty far away. The only complaint I have is that the paint is already starting to come off. It stays outside, so we will have to repaint it once in a while.

The picture on this website is lightened extensively to make the bell look like UN-finished steel. In fact, it is finished with black paint. Just like all the others I did not want to purchase due to reviews saying that the paint was quick to chip. Well, sure enough, the first go I had at the dinner bell, paint chipped.

The chuck wagon bell is well built, very loud & a great value for the cost. At our 4th of July campout everyone asked where I bought it.
