Not for beginners or new schoolers
You are getting a backlish every other cast because you do not know how to use a baitcast reel. I reccommend you learn to use this reel and once you do your way of baitcast fishing will change. Baitcast reels didnt always have magnets and crap to prevent backlash, once you learn to use reels without magnet control, you will set those magnet controls at their min setting when using those type of reels. In my opinion, the only good the magnet control is in extremly high wind conditions. Otherwise, turn it to zero.

There is no backlash control. Since it has only the one control knob, it is very difficult to set the real so you do not get backlashes. it is a very smooth real but if you get a backlash every other cast, what good is it. Not worth the money, I have purchased better quality reels for half the price even in Walmart
