needs grass or mat to perform well , does not do well on bare or thin grass surface, for the money,I'm satisfied.
This is a great Gap Wedge for the beginner golfer. It is very easy to hit. You will find after golfing for a while that you will want to manipulate your clubs a little more and this does not allow it.
I like this club as a gap wedge (it's 52 degrees). If you're 100 yards out, you can hit a full swing with this club instead of dialing back your pitching wedge. It's great on short (110 yards or so) par 3s. I haven't found myself in sand recently and haven't practiced it, but don't really have any worries, considering how effective it is in getting the ball out of the rough. One place I'd advise *not* using this club, is on the fairway from 100 yards out. It's so head-heavy that you may end up hitting it fat or thin (especially if you're used to escaping rough). Just go down to your 55 degree wedge and you'll be fine. It's not a bad chipping club out of the rough, but if you're on the fringe or fairway I'd advise not using it - this club has a lot of bounce and you're cruising to a skulled chip across the green... Overall, a solid club. I look to use it next season most times I miss the green to knock it close.
It has a good feel, and good balance. I found from the first shot, that I liked it, I think most anyone would find this a club which is very versatile. I used it in sand, grass, and with a full swing, for a soft pitching wedge. I found I could control it very easily by limiting my swing....not something I find easy, as I am not long at golfing. Enjoy.
I recently replaced my gap wedge with this club. It is a very specialized club. So far, I used it for any 90-110 yards shots from fairway or rough. I have been practicing and planning to use it for all 50-100 yards pitch shots and all low running chip shots (0-50 yards) around the green. However, I can't get a soft landing with any pitch 50 yards or less. Forget about a back spin, the dual sole doesn't allow the club head to get underneath the ball and the ball normally bounces hard off the green. I still have to pitch with my sand and lobe wedges at this range. As for its specialty shot, I pitched off a 3/4 depth buried lie with small tree branches impeding my back swing. As advertised, the club glided smoothly off obstacles allowing me to strike the ball solidly. It was the perfect club for such a shot in general. One thing I really didn't like is that the grip diameter is too small for such a heavy club. It took some getting use to. I plan to replace the grip so I can be sure to keep it in my bag for a while.Overall, the club is easy to swing and is deadly accurate when strike with good contact. It is definitely a good club for any high handicapper who has a hard time getting the ball out of trouble spots around the green.
