I purchased this tote to use for school. I carry alot of instruments and equipment but only have a 8x11.5x48 inch locker to hold the bag when it's not in use. The bag fits perfectly in the locker and allows space for books, coats, and other necessities. It holds everything I need. The tote has the perfect amount of compartments for small items; not too many, and not too little. It has two handles on the side, or the over-the shoulder strap. I am very pleased with my purchase!
