Purchased this for my 6 year old son for Christmas. It was broken within a week. Also was not really monitoring metal on the floor. Guess you get what you pay for. In the future, would pay a little extra and get something a little sturdier for a child.

National Geographic Kids Junior Digital Metal Detector-was given to our 10 year old Grand-Son/loved the smile on his face. He couldn't wait for the battery to be put in place so he could go out and walk our property, Living in the country made it easy for him to really explore,

This was a very cheaply made plastic product. I am sending it back and I'm upset to pay the shipping fee of $$$ the company should be ashamed to sell such an inferior product. This is the fist time I ordered from overstock and probably the last.

Not that I was expecting anything close to a real metal detector, but this was really far from the real thing. The handle falls off pretty easily, and it doesn't seem to find much of anything. My son is pretty disappointed.

Don't make the mistake of buying this peice of plastic that is so light and worthless, it says Metal and the metal has to be large and then a slight sound is given, Dont' waste your money, I cried when my grandson tried to use this.

my son spends 1/2 hour at a time, looking for treasure in our back yard. Told him if he found enough money, we could go to Disney. He is up to 27 cents. It looks like we will not be going any time soon.

this is a piece of junk. it's flimsy plastic and the electronics are a joke. when you adjust the sensitivity to get it to stop beeping it won't even sense a quarter on the bare floor until it's right on top of it, I mean literally touching the quarter. I was very disappointed and so was my son on christmas day!!!!

Grandsons love the prospect of finding hidden treasures. This Christmas gift was one of their favorites. Excited to learn what they find while enjoying the hunt.

I purchased this product for my grandson. We were excited to try our luck at finding treasures. However, when we tried this metal detector, the only time it indicated metal was when we placed a coin and laid the detector on top of it. If the coin settled into the grass at all, the detector couldn't locate it. Quite frustrating for an eleven year old and a grandma.

Grandsons, age 5 & 7 were really excited to get this - they have and want lots of the latest toys but this seemed to please them. It was well made but more plastic than I'd hoped. Endorsed by National Geographic made me trust the concept of the item.
