One review said the side rails broke down into 3 pieces and would fit in a backpack and is lightweight. is that true?
Takes some muscle to put together but very sturdy. I'm 6'1" 205lbs and the large frame size gives me some room to spread out. The lower profile is perfect for my 4'8" tent height. The alps mountaineering xl dual foam mat fits it perfectly....

Very difficult to put together. It takes a lot of strength. Not for a frail person.Read More
Like other reviewers, I found it difficult to assemble. The fabric slightly ripped as I worked to put the long rails together. Once together, it was sturdy and long and my 6'2" 225 son thought it was comfortable, but he had to help me assemble. I barely got the rails to work, I was not strong enough to fit the four legs/bases in. I bought it to be an "off the floor" bed for my grand daughter. She loved it and it worked. I'm a bit worried that if I break it down, I won't be able to put it back together without help.Read More
I ordered this product and got one that looked exactly like it but it was not what I was expecting. I bought this for a hiking trip in Colorado and weight was a major concern. It didn't come with instructions but I didn't have any trouble whatsoever in putting it together or taking it apart. The one I received was rated for 225lbs and weighed in at just over 10lbs. I was disappointed and debated on taking it on my trip but my departure was only 2 days away from when I received it, so it went with me. I weigh 190lbs and it handled my weight fine although I wouldn't sit on one area for any extended period of time. Laying prone it distributes my weight perfectly. Hindsight I would have bought an air mattress only because of the weight. I would still recommend this as long as you know what it really weighs and works for you. It is built well, fit in my backpack (the support pieces I tied to the outside of my pack) and it can also be used as a very compact cot stored in a closet for when kids come to visit. If you find enough of a flat area, you will find that you get a very good nights sleep on it.Read More
This cot is very lightweight and easy to carry in a backpack; it also has its own carrying case with a shoulder strap. The cot was delivered in the manufacturer's box with tags attached, but no directions were included. Assembly is easy to figure out, but requires quite a bit of strength to bend/flex the "M" shaped support legs into the holes in the side rails. Also, the fabric of the cot is barely long enough for the side rails (which come in 3 pieces on each side) to be inserted into the fabric tunnel. I had to stretch the fabric considerably to fully insert the side rails. Otherwise, the fabric is strong, somewhat "breathable" and comfortable to sleep on. Also, the size will fit a regular twin sheet pretty easily if using it as a sleepover cot for children. For the price, this cot is a very good value, and is very sturdy despite it being lightweight to carry.Read More

Camping Cots vs Air Beds
You're ready to take your first overnight camping trip but have no idea where you'll sleep. Camping adventures in the great outdoors can be exciting, but without a good night's sleep, you might wish you had stayed home. Cots and airbeds both add a lot of comfort and make it much easier to get good rest when camping. Deciding whether to purchase a camping cot or air bed is often a matter of simple preference, so consider these important factors to help you make a decision.
What to Know about Air Mattresses
Don't let a lack of sleeping space keep you from hosting house guests, and don't let fear of discomfort keep you from choosing an air mattress. Air beds have come a long way from the saggy versions pictured in movies; cots and airbeds are a great solution to the issue of uncomfortable camping and inflatable air mattresses can make a long night an adventure instead of a hardship.
Self-inflating Sleeping Pad Fact Sheet
Whether you're back-country camping or sleeping in a tent in a campground, you can stay warmer and more comfortable when you stretch out on a Self-inflating sleeping pad. Think of Self-inflating sleeping pads as miniature airbeds. They give you some insulation from the cold ground and give your body something a little softer to rest on. They're not all the same, though, so consider some key factors before you choose one.
Best Sleeping Pads to Use with Sleeping Bags
If you dislike sleeping on the cold, hard ground, a sleeping pad underneath your sleeping bag can really save you a night of discomfort. A sleeping pad is also essential for keeping your sleeping bag protected when you're roughing it. When you're packing up your sleeping bag, tent and other camping gear, don't forget a sleeping pad to keep you comfortable in the great outdoors. There are three basic types of sleeping pads available for use with sleeping bags: air mattresses,, foam pads and self-inflating pads. The type of pad you'll need depends on what kind of camping you'll be doing and how much padding you prefer.
Best Coleman Sleeping Bag for Your Camping Trip
There is nothing more important to a successful camping trip than a comfortable Coleman sleeping bag. Not all sleeping bags work for every situation. For example, sleeping in the wrong kind of sleeping bag can make a warm summer night a sauna or a cold winter camping trip nearly unbearable or even dangerous. On the other hand, your camping trip will be a cozy, instant success with the right Coleman sleeping bag for your situation. Here are some ideas on how to pick out a Coleman sleeping bag that will make your camping trip a hit.
How to Choose a Sleeping Bag
Choosing a sleeping bag is a highly individual process which should be based on several important factors -- including features, style, material and versatility. Before you begin shopping for a sleeping bag, know exactly what you will need it for. Will you be using it for year-round camping and hiking or only camping and outdoor activities in spring or summer? Will you be sleeping in your vehicle, in a tent or under the stars? What types of materials do you prefer? Once that you have determined the desired traits you would like in a sleeping bag, you can begin shopping in earnest. Here are the steps you'll need to take as you narrow your search.
FAQs about Sleeping Bags
It is hard to beat a night sleeping in the cool, crisp night air of the wilderness, with the gentle sound of a stream running in the distance. But not having the right sleeping bag can ruin your night's rest and camping experience. How to Travel with an Air Mattress
Packing a portable air mattress can be a lifesaver next time you're on a vacation. Whether traveling alone or making it a family affair, bringing an air bed can save you money during a hotel stay or provide a comfortable night's rest on camping expeditions. Although some may worry about traveling with a bulky inflatable mattress, you have nothing to fear. Air mattresses take up little space in the car during long road trips and can even be folded small enough to pack in your suitcase or carry-on. Whether you plan on sleeping under the stars or crashing on the floor of a friend's house, this guide will help you figure out how to travel with an air mattress.

How to Choose a Tent
It can be so great to be out in nature camping, roasting marshmallows and gazing up at the stars. But after a day full of the outdoors, it's time to retire to your home away from home, your tent. It won't give you all the conveniences of home, but a tent should keep you dry and protected from critters while you sleep. It should also hold most of your camping gear and give you a place to go if the weather isn't cooperating. So buy a tent hoping you will only sleep in it, but also buy a tent that will be comfortable to be awake in as well.

Tips on Buying an Air Mattress
Whether you are looking for a way to make camping more comfortable or to give your overnight guests a better sleeping option, an air mattress is an affordable, convenient option. Buying an air bed is a simple process, but you'll still want to consider a few factors to make sure you buy an air mattress that is perfect for you.
How to Choose an Air Bed
An air bed can make sleeping a lot more pleasant, whether for your in-laws when they visit or when you go camping. And with an air bed, you can turn a home office into a guest bedroom without the cost or space required with a traditional bed.
Interesting Facts about Your Air Mattress
Air mattresses have come a long way from the simple blow-up air beds that took superhuman lung capacity to fill and often left guests sleeping miserably on a partially deflated plastic mat. From everyday uses like sleepovers and quick naps to special occasions like a remote camping getaway or out-of-town guests, air mattresses are now made to fit your lifestyle. They can stow away neatly or claim a permanent spot in your bedroom, but there are a few facts you may not know about the buoyant beds.
