Product Reviews for:
3.8 out of 5put this rail on my Mosin Nagant 91/30 with great expectations. first five shots worked well, but zero didn't look right. After further scope adjustment, zero wouldn't come in. Discovered that the mount moved after every shot. Used large amounts of threadlocker and tightened screws with no great help. Back adjust screw is ok, but front screw is just too close to the pivot point to do any good. removed rail, reinstalled iron sight and threw rail in trash. Lesson learned.
This item is OK, but not in any way universal. The centerline interface/base-rail of this mount is 0.50" in width, whereas on my Finnish-made Mosin the gap between the rear-sight mounting lugs is only 0.316". I considered sending it back at that point, but it wasn't much money so I decided to see if I could make it work. I therefore had to mill-down about 0,092" from each side of the mount's base-rail. IF YOU DO THIS, ENSURE THAT YOU REMOVE THE STEEL INSERTS FIRST! This was not hard with a mill (took ~90 minutes including setup), but would be a HIDEOUS JOB if you were to try to do this with hand-tools. This is an acceptable product, but measure the gap between your rifle's rear-sight's mounting-lugs before ordering. If it's not 1/2-inch, consider the work you'll have to do to make it fit.
I have not shot with the scope mount but it seems well made. The installation instructions were good and I had no problems with the installation of this scope mount on my mosin nagant 91/30.
Scope mount arrived very quickly and was exactly as advertised. Very satisfiied with purchase.
It's aluminum, so don't run down the screws too much. If you use the original mounting pin for the rear sight blade, it will never move on you. After approximately 200 rounds and one untimely accidental drop of the rifle, the sight is still spot on.
Great product. Allows telescopic or red dot scopes while still being able to use stripper clips. Shipping was very fast.
fits just as advertised. great upgrade for an older gun that makes it a perfect long range rifle. best tip is loctite the screws
There are many other products that achieve similar results however for those Mosin owners looking for an affordable alternative, this item is hard to beat. It seems well built, installation is easy (about 5 min.) and you really can't beat the price.
It fits. Easy to install. If you really want to put a scope on your Mosin Nagant and be able to put the old sights back on, this works great at a great price. You do need a long eye relief scope even though the rail is long.
My sight rail when it was put on, turned out to be crocked it did not fit or somehting.
Came in fast and went on easy to my 91/30. Recommend a small punch to get the original site out and keep it for replacement. Make sure to pull out the metal spring tab. Someone on youtube did not remove theirs. Use loctite as specified above; however, make sure you get removable loctite. Or you can use the wife's nail polish; works just as good.
I needed about 10 seconds with a file to make it fit, but with over 17 million mossins made a little variance is to be expected. This same part is over 40$ on other web sites so 10 secs with a file isnt a problem in my book. Levels easily. Use a little blue lok-tite and it will be stable forever.
I ordered this product to make my standard Mosin Nagant in to a sniper version. But I found that it attaches to the back sight. The length from the scope to the eye is about 9 inches away which requires a long eye relief scope. I did get the look I was after but it OK with a red dot scope but make sure you know what the want. Overall its average.
I actually had to grind the back half of this piece down to make it clear the barrel. but with the simple grinding and SLIGHT modification this has held up to the 60 rounds i sent down the range focusing my scope in.
I have been searching all over the internet to find a scope mount for my mosin nagant for months. I planed on making my own but couldnt find any good pictures of them so I could get a basic idea. But when I came to overstock just looking around I found it, I was so happy. It was really cheap and got to my house faster than I thought.
Dont tie the srews to much and when you shoot your rifle will get lose again because the impact......
I didn't want to drill into the barrel to mount a scope onto my mosin, so I purchased this mount that attaches to the original sights. It was a good idea, but the mount does not secure well enough to be used with a scope at any distance. Also, the mount was warped to where the scope I had wouldn't even adjust that far to the left to make up for the warping. Overstock did send it to me very quickly and this was by far the cheapest place to get the mount, but it did not work for me, I put the old iron sights back on the same day.
The Scope mount for the M44 Mosin Nagant Rifle, Is a hard item to find, at such a good price. The shipping was fast and the item secure upon delivery. The only suggestion I could make is that the buyer be informed that this mount will require a "Long Eye Relief scope", or the field of vision will be greatly compromised. The mount is easy to attach, and requires no special skill or tools.
material is extremely soft. it doesnt set solidly to the gun and easily becomes out of sight. i would recommend it if you want to mount a red-dot sight or A small 4x sight, but nothing larger or more precise. spend the extra money and have a rail mounted to the receiver.
Great item, great price and fast shipping...Thanks...
