Unstable
from Milwaukee, WI,  May 11, 2009

This machine is more like a stair-stepper/elliptical hybrid. It really works your legs, but likes others have said the stride is very small thus making it more like a stair stepper. The big problem with this machine is the low center of gravity makes it very unstable, it tilts and knocks over if you don't maintain near perfect balance. Now in a way this is good, because balance and good form is an important part of working out. However I don't think the machine was designed for this purpose. For the price, overall it's not bad, you will have to make sure you keep good balance, and you will work your legs.

The reviews speak the truth!
from Orange County, California,  Apr 10, 2009

I read the reviews it sounded like a good deal, but you never know now days. So I got it, it showed up in sturdy packaging, fairly easy to put together. Some of the bolts have to be loosened before you can put another piece on, I had to have my husband help me with the loosening of 2 of the bolts. (but maybe I need to work out my arms more too!)It looks real nice and is totally quiet like everyone says! I honestly can't believe what a great deal this thing is! Its so unheard of now days to get something so well made at such a good price!I wanted to wait till I used it for a little while before I reviewed. So I've been using it for two weeks now. The stride is small, but you still work up a great sweat. The little monitor helps you keep track of what you've done. I write down every day what I've done so I can keep track and keep myself motivated. It has an automatic timer. So I started out doing 20 minutes and have added 2 minutes every other day till I get to 30 minutes. Cause they say you need 30 minutes of cardio a day to stay healthy. This accomplishes that in the comfort of your own home.I live in a small apartment and I have it in my living room, it's so small and compact I just keep it pushed to the side, and pull out while I'm watching T.V. My only complaint would be, too many reruns on t.v.! Ha! Ha!I tried going backwards on it but it feels a little scary like your loosing your balance and your gonna fall backward. I guess if you held onto a wall, you could do it. But going forward is no problem, you just need a little practice and you'll be gliding in no time. The monitor does measure distance but I'm pretty sure it's in kilometers, cause it's doesn't make sense. Plus I think it adds it to the distance you ran last time. But it does tell you how many calories burned and how many steps taken and how long you were on it.I would recommend this to friends or anyone that wants a convenient way to do cardio with out having to go to a stupid gym, or having to run dark streets at night. You won't be disappointed. But if your over 5 11" or over 250 pounds you would probably want to get something with a bigger stride. But for everyone else....this is THE machine!!! Totally awesome mini!

The best for a busy working mom!
from Long Island, NY,  Apr 9, 2009

This is the best little machine if you are too busy to make that additional trip to the gym. I use this after I put my kids to bed and use the machine while I'm watching TV. Well worth the investment.

LOVE IT
 from Seattle,  Feb 16, 2009

I have had this machine for almost a month now and have been very pleased. It is small ,quiet, and easy to put together. A few things to consider: measures distance in kilometers (which isn't mentioned in the instructions) and the bolts in the back need to be tightened occasionally to keep the machine working quietly.

Great purchase
 Sep 21, 2008

I brought this machine and trust me it works! Yes its a mini (hello mini) but it will certainly get your heart rate going and work the joints quite well. At first its takes some getting use to but now I"m able to get on it with no problem weighing in the 200+ range. I needed something to get me going and this is surely it. If you're looking to have something in the home and not take up a lot of space this is well worth it. I'm glad I brought it.

SO happy with this purchase!
 from CA,  Jul 13, 2008

I've only ever used O.S. two or three times, and have never written a review. But I've used others' reviews to help me with my purchases, to I figured that I should return the favor. This machine is GREAT!!!! I'm so happy that I bought it. I didn't want a big thing that takes up half of a room, and I wanted something that would make me work and break a sweat. I also wanted something that is adjustable in difficulty level. I keep it in a tiny sewing/tv room, so I also wanted to be able to pull it out of the way when I'm not using it. It has met all of my hopes, and surpassed them! It has a very smooth motion that is easy on the joints, but that definitely makes me work. Not having something for my arms to hold on to hasn't been a problem at all. I actually bought a hand weight so that I could pump a little bit while my legs are working. I've only had it for two weeks, and notice a big difference already in my leg muscles. I have no idea if the calorie-counter is representative of how many calories I'm actually burning, and I don't care. I just use that number for goal-setting -- so far, I've made myself increase my total by 15 each time I've used it. It's perfect for me! The cost is less than two months at a gym, and I use it more conveniently and consistently than I would use a gym. I just trot upstairs!! I know that the convenience will make it easy for me to continue using it. Excellent purchase!

I purchased the elliptical for home use, it works really well, and I have been using it almost daily. Two days ago, I discovered the digital display stopped working properly, I thought it was the battery, I replaced it with a new one, and it still did not work. When I contacted them about the issue, I was told that it could not be replaced.

Good Cardo But Very Little Stride
from Washington, DC,  Jul 3, 2008

I wanted an elliptical machine to help me burn calories. I just wanted to be "active" and not spend $2K on a fancy machine that I may not use or like. This machine is decent for the price. It was easy to put together. I put it together by myself while my husband watched. The price is GREAT compared to what you would normally pay for an elliptical machine. It's cute and easy to transport around the house. I move it from the basement to the family room, depending on where the action is in my house for that day! Two reasons why I didn't give 5 stars: (1) It feels pretty ackward at first to use an elliptical machine without bars. This will take some getting used to but in a day or two it will grow on you. I just move my arms as if I'm running or jogging. (2) The pedal stride is not very wide. It feels like you are taking baby steps BUT you will sweat! Overall I would recommend for quick cardio purposes and easy storage.

Mini Elliptical
from Rapid City, SD,  Aug 20, 2011

I love this Elliptical. I don't have room for a full size model, so this is perfect and fits in a closet. I was a little worried about balancing on it with no arm bars and it does take a little practice, but it isn't bad. Once you get the hang of it, you are flying. I can burn more calories on this than the mini stair stepper I have, so I alternate.

  • How accurate was the sizing? accurate
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. very nice
  • Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? seems to be

No more excuses!
from New York, NY,  Aug 2, 2011

I don't live in the safest neighborhood to walk to the gym after work, so I wanted to purchase exercise equipment for my tiny apartment. This elliptical is perfect! It took about 10 minutes to assemble. I plop it on the carpet in front of the TV for about 30 minutes each night. It tucks away in the closet when I'm done. My only complaint is that it "walks." You'll find that the machine will creep about 6 inches from you initial starting location. Not a big enough issue for me to stop using it. Very stable and great for use with hand weights. I have no more excuses for sitting on my duff every night!

Good, but only for about a year.
 from Michigan,  Aug 1, 2011

I've had two of these units, both lasted about a year. The connection wears out & the wheels no longer track properly on the metal surface. Probably it's more cost effective to join a gym or buy something better.

  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Fair.

BEST machine ever!
 from NYC,  Jan 21, 2011

This is the BEST exercise machine I have ever owned, and I have had a few: a rower, treadmill, stairclimber, exercise bike, mini trampoline (injured my back, DON'T use one). LOVE this little machine! It is VERY well-made, sturdy, and great looking. Hardly takes up any space at all, that is what I love, I can leave it out so I am on it several times a day, so you will actually USE it! I have major back problems from injuring myself on a mini trampoline, never get on one people. I have always been athletic, and the trampoline ruined me. Severe sciatica from disc herniation, chiropractors, epidurals, disc decompression, acupuncture, orthopedics, I have been through it, surgery will be next. But in the meantime, I can NOW sit down and exercise as standing is impossible due to the sciatica. That too is what is great with this machine, stand or sit. Sitting takes the pressure off my disc, I am so happy I am now getting sweating exercise several times a day from this awesome machine. If you are a TV watcher, buy this, sit watching while you exercise, no excuse now! Easy to put together, NO problems for me. Was using it within 15 minutes. BUY it, USE it, you will be happy too. Oh, this was a gift, thank you, thank you!

Hard on the knees
from Irvine, California,  Jun 18, 2010

Maybe it's just me, but I found this to be very hard on my knees. It was quiet, though, and I was able to pedal very smoothly. I just don't think it gives the thighs and calves a good workout -- all the pressure/resistance was felt in my knees.

This is a good machine for aerobic exercise. I have been using it for 20 mins every alternate day. It made my leg muscles ache the first couple of times, which shows it actually works.
