Mantis Sidekick Tandem 26-inch Bicycle

For the price I am impressed with the overall quality and performance of this tandem. I am a life long cyclist and my spouse is realtively inexperienced. She was receptive to the concept of riding a tandem yet it did not make economic sense for us to jump right it to a high end tandem where this decision was essentially an experiment. My hopes have been fulfilled and we anticipate many happy miles pedaling together. The Mantis arrived in good condition and in reasonable tune. I've always done my own bike maintenance so the final assembly was straight forward and getting the brakes and gears dialed in was easy. The components are lower tier but seem rugged enough. Sure it is a bit of a tank weight-wise but the frame seems stiff enough. We'll upgrade saddles, bars and pedals but beyond that I foresee this bike being statisfying for our intended use for the foreseeable future.

I got this for my wife for her birthday and although it is not set up for shorter/average height people, it is a nice bike. I had to put a new back seat on for my wife because the rear seat has a spring system in the seat post that prohibits you from lowering it to a normal height. Once that was done everything is great. The only other point of interest that might not be common knowledge is the fact that when riding the pedals are used in tandem, so that if you want to stop pedaling (like for a rest or going down hill) , you must tell your partner so they can stop as well.

BETTER THAN I EXPECTED FOR THE PRICE I PAID. IT CAME PARTIALLY ASSEMBLED AND IT ONLY TOOK ME 1 HOUR TO TOTALLY ASSEMBLE IT. FOR THE PRICE I PAID, I COULD RESALE AND MAKE A PROFIT!!

AT FIRST IT WAS A LITTLE DIFFICULT TO PUT TOGETHER, BUT WE CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER AND THEY WERE REALLY HELPFUL. WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE WE SET IT UP CORRECTLY SO WE TOOK THE BIKE TO A BIKE SHOP WHERE THEY TIGHTENED AND ADJUSTED A FEW THINGS THAT WE WERE NOT ABLE TO DO. IT WAS WORTH IT WE WENT ON A BIKE TRAIL AND HAD A WONDERFUL SMOOTH RIDE. WE LOVE IT!!!!!!!!
