My son just used this bag in under 30 degree temps and it kept him very comfortably warm during the night . He didn't even have to wear extra clothing to help keep him warm .
- How accurate was the sizing? good size for my son
- Please tell us about the quality of the product. Kept him warm in under 30 degree temps
- Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? Yes
Received the oversized bag, it could fit two skinny people and keep them cozy if needed. I bought the -40 degree bag and it was much more fluffy than the -20 degree bag but still very very warm. Don't know much about camping but know I will need to buy a pad to go underneath. Too bad they don't make a light weight pad build into the bag, but I guess it would be hard to roll up. I am very happy with the oversized bag and know we will be warm and toasty when we go camping soon.
- How accurate was the sizing? Accurate
- Please tell us about the quality of the product. Great quality, just wanted to be more fluffy like the -40 degree bag but my son loves it just the way it is.
- Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? Yes, definitely a excellent quality product.
Worked great in cold weather while sleeping on the ground with cross winds
I purchased this bag and a regular size for my son for Cub Scouts. We recently went on an overnight camp and was not impressed with the -20 deg rating. My son said he was warm, but he was near the fire and he sleeps hot anyhow. I was a little further away on a tarp and sleeping pad, and by mid morning started getting a chill. I had on thermals and an additional long sleeve t-shirt, I should have been plenty warm as the temps only got down to the mid 30's. The bag itself looked to be constructed well and the accompanying sack was nice and had plenty of straps for compressing and attaching to a pack. I am not entirely convinced on the -20 rating and the tag inside said for "Survival" use. I don't knwo if the other rating used this bag in the fall/winter weather, however my experience was only so-so. I will have to try again and see if I change my mind??
My Scout son recently attended their "Freeze-out" weekend at some local adirondacks (3-walled shelter with roof open forth wall) in the area. The weekend low was 13 degrees F. He stated that it was comfortable and warm. Rated it only a four currently as I don't know its durability.
Really warm and big. When I was looking into sleeping bags this one was about 5 inches wider than the other mummy bags I was considering. I didn't think that would make much of a difference, but it did. I'm a big guy and I get sick of sleeping in things that don't accommodate my size. Still, it packed up nicely, which was unlike other big bags I looked at that were not nearly as compact when packaged. Basically it was exactly what I was looking for...bigger, but still not like I was hauling around a huge air mattress!
