I had a 1" foam pad I added to the cot. I slept warm and comfortable in 20 deg weather. Moisture did build up inside the tent ceiling but did not freeze. I would like to see the tent made of a little heavier material that is breathable. The rain fly worked good. Plan to use it on overnight fishing trips this Spring and Summer.
Got to take this out for a couple of days and so far it has been great. Easy to set up and very comfortable. Really is just about the perfect size for one person. It is much bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. I am 5'9" and can store some of my gear at the end of the cot and still have plenty of room to lie down. I can also sit up with my head just touching the ceiling so it is very easy to move around. I love that it comes with a rain-fly and carrying bag. The tent is not heavy duty but about that same as most other tents you buy in the price range. I am sure it will last several years if properly taken care of. I have had the rain-fly on but did not sleep with it. I have read that condensation can build up in the tent, My plan is to leave the windows on both ends open slightly under the rain-fly to let it breath better. This is not a backpacking tent or good for anything where space and weight is limited. It does seem like about the perfect idea for quick one person fishing trips I will be using it for. My wife did climb in with me and although it is really tight we could sleep in it for a night or so if we had to.
While the thought of a tent cot is convenient. This tent cot wasn't the quality I hoped I'd get for over $***. The cot itself felt flimsy and my 5'10" 175 lb frame was sinking in the material. One of the plastic clasps that attaches the rain fly broke when I barely touched it. It was quick setting up but not so much taking down. Moreover, I felt like it would probably last 3 or 4 outings before falling apart on you.
I was very excited to receive this product from the many good reviews I read and from a buddy of mine that actually bought one too, however, during my initial setup the very top right corner on the chair back side ripped!!! My initial thought was "#@% I did something wrong" but upon further investigation into the inside of the tent I noticed that the tent was sewn wrong thereby attaching the side of the tent to the corner further down than it was meant to be. Imagine my sigh of relief...I'm hoping this is just a rare occurrence because the rest of the tent cot is very well made (and I checked EVERYWHERE). I did a replacement request *** within 20 minutes of opening box so I'm crossing my fingers this will be an easy exchange...but onto the review. I like the foam mattress that it comes with but I may still add another thin air mattress as I prefer the comfort for my back. The head room that this oversized tent cot comes with is just right for my 6 ft (200+ lb) frame while sitting toward the center but you wouldn't be able to hang a light there at the same time. That was a nice surprise too, that it even included ties at the very center to do so. There's 4 hanging pockets on each end (3 small and 1 large that has a velcro closure) but they face toward the outside of the tent and seems it would be a little awkward getting things into or out of unless you were grabbing whatever out from the outside when the ends are open but this is a very small inconvenience for myself. There's a small vent door on the top center of each side door that is secured with velcro running down the sides to keep it open or closed at any position that I imagine is to cut back on condensation inside (very clever) or just for someone else to peek inside and talk to you (Ummm, ok) as it is located on the outside portion of the doors. The poles up top are simple enough with ends that are simply placed into the holes on plastic connectors at each end and are held in place by plastic connectors that just snap onto the poles, very convenient for small areas as you don't have to start feeding the poles through anything. The zippers have color coordinated cords for easy opening (black for outside tent portion and yellow for inside mesh). The legs come with sturdy plastic feet attached to them with teeth for traction. I knew that it was a 4-in-1 system (chair, lounge, cot and tent cot) when buying it but found that the chair configuration was somewhat larger than I had hoped for as I cannot sit all the way back and have my feet on the ground at the same time. Maybe this would be better for someone larger than myself as there is plenty of room on this cot to fit those individuals but I have to scoot up and forgo using it comfortably and it's not the reason I got this to begin with. Everything else works just fine though. All-in-all this tent cot is what I hoped for and more (minus the defect) and once I get my replacement I will definately give the quality of this product an EXCELLENT and refer it to all my friends. I hope this helps others looking to buy this.
This is a great idea for those times that I camp without my family. The quality of the tent is good. It has plenty of room inside for me and a small bag. I like being up off the ground as well. I did have to call due to a damaged carry bag ( the stitching around the zipper wasn't complete leaving an 8 in hole). Overstock was great and took care of replacing the part without any hassles. I would recommend this tent hands down.
Great product for the price. OverStock has the best deal anywhere on it. TentCot arrived on time, no issues or damage. Opened up the Cot and checked it. Everything was in great condition no issues with quality control. I also have read that some folks have issues and seem to not be able to get the manufacture to respond via email I called the manufacturer Kamp Rite before purchasing this product. Spoke with them and they were very helpful and knowledgeable. I questioned them about their warranty etc and was pleased with all their responses. I can only say that if you have an issue you need to call them directly at 1-800-709-9905. I spoke with Drew and he is very customer centric and assured me if I had any issues with my purchase that Kamp Rite would take care of me. I can tell you that I love this product so much that I ordered another one tonight so me and my son can go camping together in them. I also deploy from time to time in disaster situations to assist as a first responder. I'm looking forward to not having to sleep in a tent on the ground ANY MORE ! ;) Thanks for reading.
I am a 270 pound man and this tentcot had plenty of room and was very comfortable. I used a 3 inch memory foam pad and a sleeping bag and set it up behind some sand dunes on the outerbanks and slept great all night. The fold up sides let plenty of fresh air in and the zip up screens kept out any insects. It sets up and packs up in less than 3 to 4 minutes.Great product for the money.
I used this tent cot at firemen's convention and I wish I would have purchased this years ago. It was perfect! I don't need a camper or an expensive car, I don't have to bother anyone for a space to sleep. It sets up easily and its very convinent, and roomy.
- How accurate was the sizing? Right on
- Please tell us about the quality of the product. Very sturdy and roomy
- Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? yes
I was so excited to get this one-person tent option! The first thing I noticed is that it has a very strong "plastic" odor initially so be sure to air it out before you go on your first campout. The second thing I noticed was that the rainfly was missing. However, after contacting the company, they promptly sent me a replacement! I have been quite pleased with this cot overall. It did not rain the first time I used it, so I can't speak as to how the rain fly will work, but otherwise it's a great little tent!
- How accurate was the sizing? very
- Please tell us about the quality of the product. Excellent
- Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? Yes, although it was missing the rainfly
More comfortable than expected. I do wish it broke down smaller - originally got it to load it on my motorcycle for lone road trips. However, I like it enough to get another for my husband, for the times he accompanies me; they ride in the back of the Vibe or pickup & again, very comfy. Zippers & flaps are intact, all was as it should be.
Perfect size for me (5'11" 200 lbs). plenty of room for myself and the puppy. Couldn't fit 2 adult comfortably though. easy set up and take down. i am using a camp pad for more cushion, but the pad that comes with is plenty soft. quality zippers and materials.
Love this Tent-Cot... Setup is so Easy. You don't even have to get on Your Knees to do it. Just a few Minutes and You can Hit the Sack! Haven't used it camping yet, but I am sure it will be great. All the Zippers on the Screens and Window Flaps work as they should. No Sewing or Flaw issues, Well made.... Lot's of Room and Longer than My King Size Bed at Home! My only complaint is not with the tent. But the Picture that Overstock has on the Order. It is not the same as what I received. The one in the Pic shows the tension rods on top going thru a tube sleeve on top. The one I got has several hook clips that snap on the rods instead. I kind of like the look of the sleeve instead, And that's what I thought I would receive. Otherwise it's the same Oversize Tent with a Rainfly.
