I have found that quite often, when shopping for an exercise-related device, you often, with some exception, need to spend more than $300 bucks. THIS device was about $275 here and I saved on the tax and shipping over Amazon's price for the exact same unit. I have severe back pain and this at least for now, provides SOME relief. Today, I'm scheduled for my first epidural injection. It's really that bad. I'm hoping that this table use, even ab exercises in the near future and other types of exercise and weight loss will add up to much better relief and I can stop taking naproxen and other pain relievers. As often is the case: you better have that "genius" cousin over to help assemble it because, often like other assembly instructions, the ones for this particular unit was mind-boggling, at least for ME and I often assemble things, deal with complicated electronics, etc. MY cousin was a life saver and it wouldn't get assembled without him. SO be forewarned about THAT. In the end, hanging upside down like a bat is actually a LOT of fun, besides the therapeutic aspects of using this inversion table....like having a bit of "Six Flags" in my living room. The foot/ankle braces are really great in the way they lock but, be prepared to cut your session short, since your hanging by your feet and ankles and it hurts after a short while if doing this barefooted, which is how I often do it. The locking mechanism for the various angles is unique, useful and give you complete control. This unit folds, too. I love this thing, truly. Don't buy cheaper and don't fall for other, more expensive units that charge you extra for what comes standard with this unit. Good luck....

Great Table
from NY area,  Sep 27, 2010

An extremely painful bout of sciatica lead me to research inversion tables as a relief mechanism. I read many reviews on inversion tables before deciding on this particular one. What drew me to it is the locking mechanism. On most tables you are free floating in all but the 100% inverted position. This one, along with several other of the ironman models, lets you lock in 10 different positions. After using it, I will say that I can't imagine that a table would be a nice without having this feature. It lets you lock the table and relax. It also lets you do some exercises that you would not otherwise be able to do. You can do inverted sit-up or crunches at several angles plus I even have some light weights I keep by the machine and use in an incline position. The ironman units also appear to have a superior ankle locking mechanism than other brands. I find the ankles very comfortable when inverted at up to around 60 degrees. At full inversion, it takes some mind control to deal with uncomfortable ankles. Your body just wasn't meant to hang by your ankles. Overstock had the best deal on this particular model. In addition to the locking mechanism, I chose this model because it had a padded board and will fold (though not well). The table arrived quickly and the box was in good condition with all needed parts. Putting the table together wasn't too bad though it would have been easier if the nuts and bolts had been labeled. The table is very study. I feel quite confident being upside down on it. The locking mechanism works great and the table is pretty nicely balanced when using it in the free mode. I didn't really have any problems going fully inverted the first time I used it. I have a tough time staying fully inverted for more than a couple of minutes however; I stay at a 45 degree angle for 10 minutes or so with no trouble. You really don't need to spend too much time on it in order to get relief from back pain. The effects on my back were immediate. It definitely gives a nice stretch and provides relief to my back pain and sciatica. After being on it, my back felt more relaxed and I seemed to sit up straighter. It seems that no matter what table you look at, people swear that these things work. I have only had the table 5 days so I can't yet comment on the long term benefits. I do look forward to getting on the table, the minute I get home from work. It's not like most exercise equipment where I have to convince myself to workout. I really like using this. One of the reasons I got this table was because it folds. Well, don't think you are going to be able to easily fold it and place it against a wall or store it under a bed. The table part makes it pretty difficult to fold up after use against a wall. It's also very heavy as one piece and difficult to fold by yourself. One could separate the table from the base to store it a little more easily. To do that, you would need to remove 4 bolts. Right now I've got it set up in my family room so that I use it consistently. Ironman makes a couple of similar units that are a little heavier and do not fold. I can't imagine that those units would be any more stable than this one. I can tell I'm not going to be folding this unit and putting it against the wall every day like I hoped I might be able to do. On the other hand, if I have company, I would be able to take the unit apart fairly easily, fold it and probably put it in my garage that is next to the family room. In two parts, the weight would be much easier for me to handle as well. I do believe that some units fold more easily. If you need to be able to fold it every day, this model is not for you.

Awesome inversion table, Awesome service
from Denver, Co.,  May 15, 2012

previously I wrote a review for this product. Since then overstock put me in touch with the manufacturer. They replaced the part that was creating a difficulty with my ankles being secure in the cuffs. This new part is fabulous and makes the total experience much better! The cuffs are smaller, and fit my ankles perfectly. I would highly recommend this inversion table now!

  • How accurate was the sizing? ankle cuffs were replaced by mfr. to fit my small ankles
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. excellent
  • Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? with modification by the mfr. this functioned well

Ironman Locking Inversion Table
from Chesterfield, UK,  Apr 20, 2012

I ordered the Ironman Inversion table after suffering long-term pain with a 'slipped disc', and paying out weekly fees for traction at my local physiotherapist. THe table arrived promptly and was fairly easy to put together, although I found the instructions and diagrams a bit vague. I'm mechanically-minded, but think someone who is not would have struggled. I find the table useful and it does give me short-term relief from pain and allow me to do some mobility exercise whilst inverted, that are too painful whilst seated or lying down. Hopefully this will in turn lead to long-term relief. It has enabled me to resume light jogging again - I warm-up and pre-stretch on the table , have a short jog, and then warm down with a 5 minute full inversion, which does help alot with soreness in the bottom of my back. The added bonus is that the inversion also reduces muscle soreness in my legs I haven't had the miraculous recovery that some people do, but it definitely helps and using it 10 mins 2-3 times a day is easy to fit in with my routine.

  • How accurate was the sizing? Good
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. The product is made from good quality, sturdy materials, which I'm sure will last for many years
  • Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? No. Some of the plastic trims were broken, one of the backrest screw holes doesn't line-up, and the slide lock screw needs to be tightend with pliers because the plastic knob fell off on first use

Ironman LXT850 Locking Inversion System
from Birmingham, AL,  Apr 12, 2012

The idea is real. All observations about how a product such as this is supposed to work, like from the first 5 minutes, are true. That said, this is an excellent machine, exercise peice of equipment, or therapeutic device. Hanging from one's ankles leaves something to be desired. And, who does not have something in their back that does not need to be worked on. I think the reason it works, and so much better than floating, or light swimming, is because being upside down against gravity is much superior than just being free of gravity, but the notion is somewhat similar. Teasingly, we have equivocated that it is, similar to David Blaine's magic, like putting a paper towel back together at the perforation, restoring the parts that are most damaged, but support almost all of the weight, like a welder repairs a cracked piece of steel. There was one tiny problem with this device, noting as others that you do have to be aware of what you are reading in the directions like the labels for the screws are metric, so you can line them up by size, but, that the frame's base where the plastic feet attach is not threaded much, and I stripped a simple phillips head screw for having tightened it too tight. Despite this, the design is so well done, folding it up to lean against the wall effects the 'lose' screw not at all, and the machine operates as stated. While assembling, you may do as I did use silicon spray for conditioning purposes on all rubber, moving parts, and exposed metal. Finally, with a 10% discount, I received the item in less than a week for $XXX. Considering that nothing else has ever come close to working for any lasting time whatsoever for Jennifer, this is, truly, a minor miracle. And it locks!

  • How accurate was the sizing? perfect

 from Florida,  Jan 25, 2012

Well worth the money. This table is very strong, makes you feel safe when your on it.I must say it is very heavy to move around.Putting it together looked worse than what it was. I find that I need to wear shoes,I have small feet and without the shoes I feel like my feet are going to slip out, I find that it is more comfy too.

Wow!
from Roy, UT,  Jan 20, 2012

This table was available locally at a much higher price than I paid with Overstock.com. It is easily gym quality and will hold a 300 pound person quite easily. I was amazed that I received the four items I ordered in time for Christmas since I submitted the order with only eight days remaining. I'm a happy customer and will buy from Overstock.com on a regular basis from now on. Congratulations Overstock.com, you completely satisfied a very critical and picky customer.

  • How accurate was the sizing? Product was a little larger than expected
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Better than expected
  • Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? One bolt hole was stripped, but was easily repairable

Great inversion table!
 from Washington D.C.,  Jan 10, 2012

The locking feature is a huge plus and allows you to stop at an angle that is comfortable to you or build up tolerance to the inverted position. Few tables have this. The ankle clamp is also very comfortable. It took 2 people about an hour to put it together and the instructions weren't great, but assembly wasn't too bad. Would definitely recommend -- the multiple locking positions and comfort of the ankle clamp system far outweigh any minor aggrevation from the assembly.

  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Very sturdy & stable

Positive review
from Palatine, Illinois,  Jan 3, 2012

I bought this for my husband who is a big man close to 300 pounds. Most weight limits on others is 250 pounds. You can also adjust the height which is great as he is 6'2" and I am 5'3". We both use it and it is really helping his back issues. I use it as it is great for circulation. You do need to start out at a slight angle for a few minutes and gradually increase both. Plus the price was great!

  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. So far great quality. Only owned a few weeks

Love it, But
 from Mississippi,  Mar 20, 2011

Once we got it assembled we love it. Works great, ankle holders are comfortable, love the locking feature, hightly recommend, BUT, the assembly instructions are VERY UNCLEAR! Sort of had to figure it out as I went, the pictures were virtually no help at all and even some of the directions did not apply to this unit. Also, there was one screw missing. If you are good at assembling without much aid then you will be very happy with the product.

Good Buy
from NW, Indiana,  Jan 13, 2011

Very happy with this purchase. This model delivers what I was looking for. The best feature, as mentioned in another review, is the locking system. I wasn't aware that some others did not have this feature, and I'm glad I have it. If you don't want to hang completely vertical, you can lock-in at a variety of angles, relax and let gravity do its work. Also, above average quality and feels sturdy. It handles my 220 lb frame NP. Assembly: Does require a little technical know how. Allow about 1 hour.

Good product
from Cleveland, OH,  Apr 17, 2010

I didn't think that this would help my back issues but I have noticed marked improvement with my occassional back pain. I try to use the table twice a day for 5 to 10 minutes. Feels good-very relaxing. Very sturdy construction and easy to use. Took my husband about 30 minutes to put it together. Glad I bought it.
