I really put this one through the test in the last set of hurricanes. It lasted the entire 5 days of power outage that we had with Wilma and the batteries are still strong. Even with the hurricane shutters on during the day it illuminates the whole room. Every member of my family keeps one at the bedside and in the kitchen for those summer power outages also. It works best when you flip the entire head up to the ceiling and the light illuminates the whole room on high. Great for taking to the bathroom, it doesn't roll away when you need it most! It is very durable and we dropped it many times and it held up to the most durable tests we put it through. I can say how much we have found this product useful and easy to handle. It will even hang on a nail or hook for better coverage of the room. The product looks very nice also, and is lightweight even with the three C batteries in it that it uses. I would recommend this product as a hurricane or storm supply anyday. Much safer than candles too. Found it very useful for an LED lantern!

Wow, I would have been really upset if I had paid The "msrp" on this item! It's no more than "cheap" plastic. And to retirn it would have cost almost $10.00 fo a $16.00 item..Buyer Beware!

When I bought this item, I didn't think it was going to be as good as it was. I mean for the price that I paid, I thought it would be an interesting light that would be handy to use around the house. This pivot lantern was so bright and worked so well...I ended up using it for my attic and my garage! It's not heavy at all so it makes it easy to carry around. I would definitely recommend this!

We used this light on a recent camping trip. It worked very well to light up our tent as well as help us find our way to the facilities in the dark. Great buy for the price.

I find it impossible to believe the lantern I purchased could sell for the given retail price . It is made entirely of plastic. The light it throws is more than satisfactory. The product durability is also questionable .

This is my second time to purchase this lantern. My husband is an ac/heating tech. He left his light in an attic "somewhere." He was really upset, because he used it every day. I ordered him another one. He was so happy to have it replaced. His comment was, "the best light I have ever owned."

I've been collecting LED lights since the early days, and this is the one I use almost exclusively now. I measured the current draw and looked up some graphs on the Duracell website, and these lights should run for 72 hours on a set of alkaline cells before getting to the 0.8 V level under load, which Duracell considers a dead battery. If it burns brightly for 48 of those hours, which the charts indicate it should easily, I'll be happy. The shape is not really the best for walking with, although it's certainly usable for that, but it's great for setting down somewhere. It's bottom-heavy, and the angle of the head is completely adjustable. And it stays put once adjusted. I have two of these, and I use them all the time. I've even used them for photography. Why not? You can run them for eight hours and the batteries and "bulb" barely notice. They seem sturdily built, but I haven't kicked them around much yet.

I liked the lantern so much that I immediately ordered another for a birthday gift. It is so handy around the house and in the motor home!

The lantern is very good, my one complaint would be that it does not come with a wall plug in, or tell you that you can order that seperately.

The light is not very bright at all, i've seen a lot brighter laturn lights. It's made of line plastic and is very light weight without the batteries. The head of the light will flow fowars and backwards with very little effort. It does use led light and they don't consume much power. I doubt it would last for 100,000 hours, but I think it's a good item to have in case of a power outage. It would be a nice replacement for candles.

The light is not "Ultra-Bright." In fact, it barely illuminates anything, even on high-beam. It's a decent design, but a bit plasticky.

Awesome lamp! Took it to Burning Man for a week, used it constantly, and the batteries never died. Wish I'd bought 10 of them!

I waited to write this review in order to experience this light. Without reservation I cannot say enough good things about it. One set of batteries! Great for reading, tasks, family, standby, and just about anything requiring a fair amount of concentrated wide soft light. It has been dropped more than once and has withstood the impact. All of my family members try to steal it but it's MINE!!

I thought this was a great light when I first purchased it but I loaned it to one of my sons and it was returned-broken off at the base. Since it wasn't me that broke it and I like it so well, I purchased another one. Same results, but this time I was the one it fell apart on. It's too bad because it was one of t he best "lanterns" I had ever owned until that happened.

This lantern has served me well for several years. The pivot in its necks makes it very useful. I, did, however, drop the lantern (about four feet) to the floor, which caused the battery cover to break. (The cover hinges are poorly constructed.) But a little duct tape made it good as new!

This item was junk. It produces a weak light that is virtually useless (unless you want mood lighting in a very limited space).

I expected this light to be higher quality and brighter. It felt like it would break as i had to force the batteries in. The shipping took the longest of any product I've purchased from O.com. I haven't used it in a power outage so far, so i have no idea how long the batteries will last or how durable it will be, but it seems stable and was a good value even if turns out to be less than expected.
