Great pack
tatedpt  from Iowa,  Aug 1, 2007
I am doctor of physical therapy and i just returned from backpacking europe for 2 weeks. The pack is ajustable which is important in the ergonomics of using the pack. It is very important to be able and ajust your pack to decrease back pain during your trips. I would recommend this pack to family, friends, and patients. This pack had plenty of room, and was durable. I also like to look of this pack. Anyway hope this helps you out and have fun on your future trips.

backpack
moosieco  from Eastern Oregon,  Sep 3, 2009
Nice pack, easy to load, very comfortable. Pack is rather small so you really have to pick and choose what to take which is really not a bad idea. I took the back pack on a 3 day backpacking trip and it held more than enough gear, longer trips would be a little tighter squeeze.

I took this backpack on a month long trip to 4 different countries. I was very happy with it's performance, and a few more experienced backpackers where impressed with the pack and the price I paid.

Great Pack
jrc2010  from NYC, NY,  Jul 8, 2009
I was searching around for a inexpensive pack for a camping trip in the hill country of southern Texas. Thought about frame less packs and some more expensive packs from the North Face (& other brands), but this one caught my eye. Initial quality is superb and the backpack performed well. Built in rainfly is nice and works well. Plenty of room for all your stuff with plenty to spare if you are going on a light trip for a week or under. Overall, I really am satisfied with the purchase and look forward to using the pack more.

Grand Teton Climb
firsttime14  from Scottsdale, AZ,  Jul 6, 2009
I bought & used this for my 1st time 14,000 elev. 4 day climb/hike. Overall, I enjoyed the pack, felt all the pockets and access zippers (especially the one below the main compartment that can be accessed from the front outside pocket) were useful and reasonably located. The ice axe clip in the front was not the best, no matter how I worked it, my axed slipped out of the clip. I had no sore muscles, shoulders, etc. from the pack and how it was worn, so it would lead me to believe that all the weight disbursement and waist/shoulder straps are well suited. The back adjustment for me was on XS and I am a 5'7" average female, so this pack could work well for very tall people as well. When I received the pack, I was concerned about the small pocket for the Camelbak pouch, but it worked regardless. I am pleased with my purchase and look forward to using it again. Would recommend to a friend.

Great backpack!
jennybr  from Chicago, IL,  Mar 30, 2009
I bought this backpack a couple of years ago for my son (12 at the time) to use when he went to a scout camp in Colorado - we're Flatlanders. It's very roomy and we were able to pack everything he needed in it. He had great things to say about it when we came home. Then, last summer, I used it on a weekend hike in Wisconsin, and I was very impressed. There are so many great features! The chest strap has a whistle on it, which is nice if you're scared your son will get lost (or if you're going to be in bear country). The zippered compartment on the bottom is nice for wet swimsuits and flipflops. There are lots of daisy chains for attaching gear. It has lots of pockets to stow stuff. It's durable, and light enough to take on a multi-day hike. Next year in 2010, my son and I will be going to the father of all Scout camps, Philmont, and I will definitely be buying one of these for myself - I like it that much! I would recommend this to anyone.

Buy it. You'll love it.
paddlehiker  from New England,  Mar 21, 2009
I was in need of replacing my old, worn, outdated pack and my daughter forwarded me a link for this one. I'm a kook for diligent comparison shopping and I did lots of it. I also place a lot of value on reviews and I read them all, here and elsewhere. In the end I bought this pack and just got back from its first trial run... in three feet of snow, on snowhoes, an arduous ascent and descent and loaded with all of the finest goods and gear one could want. Wow. I should have made this move long ago. When you travel on foot, your pack can be yur best friend or your worst enemy. I have a new best friend. Frankly, I was shocked at the quality when it arrived (quickly I might add). Whoever designed this pack has carried a few before. It has everything I want. Light weight... lots of room... convenient access to compartments and it looks great. I'm a little confused with the "hydration" feature(s), since it appears the mini-pack/strap thing on the back is designed for a bladder, yet the scupper for the bite tube is built into the main compartment. Not a big deal at all though. I prefer the bottle pockets on the sides anyway. There is a clip for the hydration tube on the shoulder strap in any event and wherever one would put the bladder, it would be easily accessible. I want to address the few, partly negative reviews I condidered. The water bottle pockets re not "too tight".... they're adjustable. Make them as tight or loose as you want and they can hold containers firm or loose. Side pockets. Hmmmm.... whoever said they were needed and not there didn't look close enough. There are two very cleverly designed bellows pockets that hold a lot of stuff. They are pleated and darn near invisible until you discover them. Thin shoulder straps. I suppose if you really want to carry all the weight on your shoulders, they might get uncomfortable. Any strap would in y opinion. The belly strap on this pack is easily adjusted on the fly and that's where I put the weight. On my hips. The shoulder strap is just there to keep the whole rig from falling off backward. That's all I remember being negative comments. I can offer none. I love the whole pack, but I really love the top compartment with the rubberized zipper. The built in rain cover in blaze orange is also brilliant. You will not find a better pack for the money. As one reviewer mentioned, be sure and check for value codes. I googled them and saved ten bucks. I alsmost feel bad now. I love it that much.

AWSOME PACK!!!
raptorman2099  from SPRINGFIELD, OHIO,  Feb 21, 2009
I JUST GOT THIS BACKPACK IN THE MAIL THE OTHER DAY. I WAS MORE THEN SURPRIZED WHEN I GOT IT. IT IS VERY ROOMY. THE MATERIAL IS STRONGER THEN I THOUGHT. AND THE ADJUSTABILITY IS GREAT. AT THE PRICE YOU PAY HERE, THERE IS NO BETTER PACK. I WOULD RECOMEND THIS PACK TO ANYONE.

Nice Pack
love2hike  from New Hampshire,  Feb 10, 2009
I've recently purchased this pack and have already taken it on several trips into the White Mountains. I was able to fit plenty of my gear into the pack, as well as strap gear to the exterior. There are many useful straps, pockets, and is very well built. I had never heard of this particular company before but the reviews on this pack encouraged me to give it a try. Very well worth the money! Also, make sure to search the internet for "Overstock promo codes" before making your purchase. There are codes available that will give you an additional discount. I recieved an additional 10% off which made it even a better purchase.

THIN STRAPS -- but good value
highsierras  from Santa Barbara, CA,  Jan 26, 2009
I have compared several packs and this bag is most definitely a good product for the money. HOWEVER, if you plan on carrying 35+ pound loads for 6+ miles in a day, you will experience severe pain from the straps digging into your shoulders and chest. Even when the pack is properly positioned on your hips, the shoulder straps are designed poorly and manufactured too thinly. The pack itself looks good, is made of high quality, low weight fabrics, and is pretty well designed. There are plenty of straps and loops to hook on your Thermarest, tent, or sleeping back, and there is plenty of overall storage space.I purchased Timbuktu shoulder strap covers to add some padding to my straps, and you will too if carrying heavy loads.

nice pack
thomas5a  from Michigan,  Nov 22, 2008
As I am new to hiking, this is my first hiking pack so I'm a little green for advice, but i think this pack is a great buy for the $$$$ Happy with the fit- I have had it out for a couple of hikes in the snow (20-25 lbs in it) and after 3 to 4 hours it still feels comfortable It has an attached rain cover with it that comes in handy I would buy it again.

I have yet to use this pack but plan to do so soon. I am very optimistic about it as a friend had recently purchased one and used it on a 12 day hike in Alaska with great performance reports. It seems to be fairly easy to fit to "average +" torsos - probably not so good for the smaller/shorter frames. I'm looking forward to putting it to the real test!

Took this out backpacking, and it was a very comfortable and very adjustable pack. Great size for even an extended trip (which, we unfortunately did not have the time to do). Highly recommended, especially for the price.

Love it
amtrouble  from Buckeye, AZ,  Sep 5, 2008
We bought this backpack and another one for dh and ds to go on a Boy Scout hiking trip. DS picked this one, DH picked the other and really wish that he had this one for himself. It' s nice and roomy, holds lots of stuff (just for fun we placed our five year old in the back for a picture, he's about 32lbs). It is also adjustable, I don't think that is mentioned in the description. We'd definitely recommend this back pack, it worked out well for the hike.

great pack great price
thanatoi  from sierra nevadas, ca,  Aug 14, 2008
i like this pack as well as the kelty pack i paid more than double for. the only thing i would add to this is a hydration bladder. otherwise this has all you need. got it for my son who needs to grow into it a little but adjusted all the way down, it is ok for his light loads. for stuffing it with 50+ lbs of gear the hip strap and shoulder padding might be a little thin. for loads under this weight is should be fine. many good extras in such an inexpensive pack.

Too many straps
mdguy218  from Washington, DC,  Jul 22, 2008
Really...the amount of straps on this bag was ridiculous. Spend another $15 to get a decent pack. I didnt really love most of the features on this one. The pockets were awkwardly shaped. I think if you really need a sleeping bag, this is a good option if you want to keep it stored outside the pack. But for a general pack, it wasnt really practical.

Pack up and GO!
jcalton  from Layton, UT,  Jul 18, 2008
I am an amateur hiker/camper. I used to do it a lot in boy scouts as I am from Utah, but lately haven't hit the trails til you see those survival shows or nature shows in HD. It makes you really want to get out and enjoy what is left of it. When I got the pack I was very surprised at the overall workmanship that went into it. The pack was packaged well and looked great (red and black). Everyone of my friends and family that have seen it or tried it on have been very impressed. I packed it full with a Nalgene 3 liter water hydration system, full winter outer and inner wear, a pair of tennis shoes, the High Peak Cascade -5 sleeping bag, 6 cans of food/soup, other food (maybe 5 lbs), mess kit, 100 ft of rope, hatchet (really cool handle lock system that comes with it), first aid kit, hand warmers, fire starters (flint/steel,lighters,matches,etc.), 4 knives, basketball shorts, t-shirts, hygiene stuff, 2 man 3 season tent (alpine designs?), and I still have plenty of room to spare. If your looking at getting this pack I would recommend finding some compression sacks like the ones they use for the bags for your sleeping bags. You can use these to pack away your tent, clothes, and sleeping bag in way half the space as if you were to just cram them in there. Good buy and actually had my friend buy the High Peak Tibbet bag a week after getting my rucksack. Thanks O! I am ready to Pack up and GO!

Good deal
sirronej  from Chico, CA,  Jun 20, 2008
My son is in boyscouts and they do alot of backpacking and camping. I purchased this for him, and it's wonderful! The best feature is that he can "grow" into it as it has adjustable height shoulder straps. I liked it so much that I pucashed one for myself as well.
