  • Poor quality and slow

    I bought this product for a small safe to put things such as files, papers, important data files and such with the hope of using it as a gun vault in the future. The reason i picked this product was because of the supposed fast action opening. This device does not allow you to open it quickly. Although the buttons form to your fingers for fast entry of your code, the buttons do not allow you to punch in the code quick enough. You need to allow a certain amount of time between pushes and it can be difficult to enter the code due to cheap buttons. In my opinion no matter what kind of lock your vault has weather its a turn combo or pin entry, if you practice enough, you will be able to enter the code easily and under pressure with quick speed. This vault will only hamper your ability to reach your gun.

  • So far, so good!

    I read mixed reviews on this gun safe but for the discounted price on Overstock I had to go for it! So far, I haven't encountered any defects. The only three issues I've had could be chucked up to user error but nevertheless here they are: 1) Battery installation - this was a challenge and I'm a woman with small hands. I struggled with this task for about 25 minutes. The manufacturer should have come up an easier way of installing the batteries. 2) Security cable punch out hole - when I hear 'punch out' I think 'easy' but no sir! I bought the security cable to strap down the safe and thought punching out the hole to secure it would be a breeze but after about an hour of banging on it with different hammers and nails I gave up, I had to drill through it which was not an easy task. The manufactuer should just punch the darn hole out and sell the safe with the security cable ... just add another $10 to the price, or sell an option that comes with the cable. 3) Motion sensor - moderate vibrations will set off the motion sensor so I may need to adjust the sensitivity. Overall, I've only had the safe for about two weeks now so I can't complain (yet!).

  • Is this the GV2000D (takes a 9v battery) or an older model (takes 8 AA batteries). In the product description, it states that this takes 8 AA batteries, but it also says that it is a GV2000D
