I love this gun safe. It is big enough for my handgun and a few boxes of ammo. I love the finger combination feature, I can open my safe in the dark and in a hurry. The keys are great for a backup. Make sure you follow the recommendation to use a Duracell battery. I had another one at first and the safe wouldn't open with it.

It's a great little vault! Easy to use and set up.

I have been looking at this particular gun vault at my local gun shop. It is exactly the same but I paid quite a bit less of Overstock.com. I am very happy with my purchase. It was easy to program. I like that it also has the ability to be plugged in if you do not want to use batteries. It fits my pistol, 2 clips and there is room for jewelry or important paperwork. I have not yet secured it to my floor, just have it hidden where I could get to it easily if I needed to in an emergency. I am happy with my gun vault and feel I received a good deal!

If your thinking about purchasing a gun safe for your personal protection, THIS is AWSOME!. Large enough for a couple of pistols, mag's and a small flashlight. My gun instructor suggested this product and I'm thrilled with it. He also suggested when you encode your finger print, to do it several times. This helps it read your fingerprint with slight variations. Then once or twice a day for a few day, practice walking up (or roll over if you have it beside your bed) and open your vault. I'll purchase the security cable instead of hard mounting the unit. I actually purchased two, one for me and one for my mother. She will also get the security cable - she travels a lot and will take this with her to put in the hotel rooms. This unit has plenty of room for her gun, ID, money and credit cards.

Nicely made. A little cumbersome to put battery in the compartment. Overall as described.

decent safe for one or two pistols. I was disappointed that there are only 4 buttons, greatly reducing the combination possibilities

I do not recommend this product to anyone. The lock mechanism was in shambles and totally unusable. I requested a replacement from the manufacturer.

I purchased this safe about four months ago. It has plenty of room for a handgun, a box of shells, four rolls of silver coins, passports and important papers. The finger combo was easy to change, although odd it has four buttons yet requires a five digit code. Now the down side; It takes eight AA batteries AND after opening it about 6 times, no longer did the combination open the door. I thought the batteries had died, although the were fresh out of the package. I changed the batteries and re-set the combo...it still did not open even though it was the right combo. Conclusion: the locking mechanism is no longer working. Still a safe with a key...but no longer a quick response safe in case of an emergency. Will call the company this week to see what a hassle and money it is going to take to repair...keep you posted.

First, about the safe, then I'll write about the defects. The code was easy enough to figure out, but when you input the code with the buttons, it beeps. Not very tactical if you have someone in the house and you're trying to get to your gun. Also, much like the other person said, when it opens, it slams open, which is also not quiet. It stopped working after a few months. I contacted the company, and was told to replace the batteries. It did not solve the problem. If you input the code about 15 times, it would finally open, so I believe it was defective. Also, when replacing the weapon and closing the safe door, it would not stay shut. So, after trying to close it about 15-20 times, it would finally latch. Also, we attempted numerous times to open it with the key supplied with the safe, and it would not work either. Eventually, it wouldn't open at all, and my husband had to break into the safe with a crowbar, which was actually very easy for him to do, also not a good sign. After about 6 months of emails back and forth, I have convinced the company to send us a check because we no longer had the receipt. They offered initially to replace the safe, but I refused. We will not be buying this brand of gun safe again.

Got this at Bass Pro for about $$$ on big sale. Seemed fine for the money for about 2 months. There are a couple of drawbacks i will discuss in a bit... easy to put up with for the money. Then i punched in the code one day and the door opened...the light stayed on and smoke started billowing out of it. It was fried. Oh well, I understand a certain % of all produced goods fail. To be fair, Boyt replaced it without a problem and even paid for all shipping. Took about two weeks. The replacement has been re-engineered. The door that was alittle soft opening but certainly fine before now has additional springs and slams open with a loud bang. The new one is not square. You can see the bad weld along one edge of the base that warps the unit. One good change is that the door opens farther now where before it would open to just shy of 80 degrees frm vertical. Forget getting into it discreetly if you hear a bump in the night. Aside from the slamming open if you fail to hold the door, you cannot turn off the loud beeps as you press each button. I guess the led Flashing with each press isn't enough to tell you it is pressed. Hopefully it will scare a thief away instead of making him/her rush you. The key works fine and the override contacts with the 9-volt battery is a nice feature ...if you lose the key and you wait till the 8 aa batteries go dead. The first was well built and both will keep children out and safe. A teenager up to no good could make short work of it, but in my mind that is not the purpose of the thing so i don't mark off for that. I wish I had just kept the first one and used the key...

This is a great security box to stow your firearms or valuables under the seat in your car. I can stow both a Ruger LCP and a Glock 23 in this with no problem. The box itself feels pretty substantial for its size. There is just enough cable to allow you to pull the box from under the seat and lay it on the center console to access the lock.
