I previously purchased this outfit, and the manufacturing of the rod was poor. I returned it, and the company that distributes the rod and reel were very gracious. They convinced me that this was a rarity - that they've sold many of these without complaint (thousands). I reordered another outfit and this set was fine. I haven't used it, since it was gift for a family member, but it appears to be good quality with a good feel. I would have given it 5 stars if I had a chance to fish with it.

I bought this for my boyfriend because he broke his other fly fishing rod. He was slightly hesitant about me picking out his new fishing rod because his last one was very nice. He has since used the rod and loves it. Says that it is just as nice as his old one.

Last week I ordered the GoldMedal Fly rod outfit in both 8.5 and 9 footmodels I was very curious about the quality, and was very happy. Rods are great I buy similar rods that started at over $150.00 and more by themselves. Add the rest of the outfit and It makes a fantastic bargain for under $100.00. I love deals like this and especially the quality was so superior.

I recently ordered the Gold Medal II fly fishing outfit for a Christmas gift. I've decided to KEEP it for myself and am ordering additional sets as Christmas gifts. We ordered spin pole sets this past summer and had a ball all season long.

This outfit was so extremely defective that it could not be used for practice or fishing. Am returning it immediately and went to LLBean to gets something worthwhile.

• Please tell us about the quality of the product. Terrible quality. The line caught in the reel made the outfit unusable.
• Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? No-defective and cheap

I have not had the time to use the fishing rod as of yet but, in looking at it it is just what I wanted for fishing.
