Last week I ordered the GoldMedal Fly rod outfit in both 8.5 and 9 footmodels I was very curious about the quality, and was very happy. Rods are great I buy similar rods that started at over $150.00 and more by themselves. Add the rest of the outfit and It makes a fantastic bargain for under $100.00. I love deals like this and especially the quality was so superior.

The reel does not fit on the rod, since the position of the cork grip was manufactured incorrectly. The threaded nut that is supposed to secure the reel to the rod doesn't have enough travel to tighten down on the reel.The reel is loose and the grooved location is not aligned with the eyelets in the rod.Poorly manufactured.

The first trip the handle end cap came off the rod. My buddy had epoxey or i would have been stuck.It seems fine now and i will use it as a spare.The price for the outfit was very reasonable and sometimes you get what you pay for.

While looking for a fly reel only I came across the Gold Medal II fly fishing outfit. For less than half of what the lowest priced reel cost on most websites, I got a rod, reel, fly line, leader, flies and a hatch chart! Awesome value. Just waiting for fishing season to start so I can use it. Durability being marked less than outstanding is only because I don't know yet how durable it will be.
