I sent this as a gift and it was liked but I have never seen it or used it myself. Since I didn't get any negative feedback from the recipient, I guess it was okay.
For the occasional astronomer this is a very good deal . The price cant be beat . The images I got were very sharp and clear .I definately recommend that one get the model with the clock drive and hand held controller , otherwise you are constantly fiddling with the controls to keep any thing insight for long ( as you would be with any other telescope ) w/o a clock drive. One might be advised that they pack a translucent dust cover inside the eye piece(s) . The dust covers are not imediately evident from the outside when you are first putting the scope together , thye are slightly recessed into the bottom of the eyepiece(s) .
I purchased this telescope as a Christmas present for my mother and she adores it. I looked around for telescopes at a variety of locations and found them all to be overpriced while offering minimal magnification. Once I ran a search with Overstock it took me but a minute to select and buy it... Thanks Overstock
The telescope was better than I expected. I bought it as a xmas gift for my stepson. He just loves it. I like the value I got on it. It was very easy to shop on overstock.com I will be back in the future.
You get what you pay for. I knew from the start that I was not purchasing a high quality telescope. But, for the money, I was extremely satisfied! It was easy to set up and get started. I am sure that we will enjoy it for many years to come. This would be my first recommendation to anyone interested in starting to study and investigate the sky. Overstock shipped it quickly and I was able to track it easily. Thank you.
this telescope stinks. can't even get anything except blank white to show up. a really bummer and complete downer. do not buy this thing.total waste of money. Also, i read that even if i do get something to show up in the view finder (which seems very unlikely) the view will be a mirror image and up-side-down.
The telescope itself works fine. The things I didn't like are: It's very difficult to aim. When trying to find a star or planet at night the "red dot" in the finder is so bright it blots out the object you're looking for and makes it very difficult to get the object in the telescope's view. The asmith adjustment was very difficult to work. The Earth's rotation doesn't seem like much but when viewing an object through a telescope once you find it, it moves out of vision almost before you can focus let alone get a good look. This telescope isn't worth much without a motor driven mount to componsate for the Earth's rotation.
