very great price, quiet and awesome for apartments. Works just like an electric treadmillRead More
The measurements for length were off by about 3 inches so if you have a specific space it may be too long for the area.Read More
This is my first treadmill, though I have used may types at the gym. I prefer magnetic and I found this one to have a good range of tension. I would NOT recommend this model for a heavy person as it will tip. The price was very reasonable but I take issue with the way that it arrived. For a box of this length and weight, I would expect more than two brace-bands around the contents. One of mine was broken off and the entire box looked like it had been dragged behind the UPS truck. The display panel was cracked in three areas. I am keeping it as is, though, because to ship it back would be an impossible task since I did not find this out until I had already assembled it and I doubt it could've been shipped back in the horribly damaged box it came in.Read More
I would recommend this to anyone that wants a cheap treadmill. My wife is unsteady on her feet and really appreciates the extra long handles. It has two design problems. The resistance knob will move, but the won't change anything unless the belt is stationary. The last is minor, but you have to unscrew and reverse the lcd console for storage, if you want the handles down. Overall, exactly what we wanted and I would buy it again even with the quirks listed above.Read More
At first I was going to complain about this item, but after I gave it a chance it seems like it will do the trick. I wanted a treadmill that I could use Hands Free- without holding on. At first I didn't think the magnetic treadmill would allow me to do that, but after a little practice, I got the hang of it.. Now I just have to make sure it doesn't end up as a clothes rack!Read More

Fortunately, treadmills offer a solution that lets you get your workout at any time, and they can even allow you to watch your favorite TV show or keep an eye on your kids. As with all home gym machines, prices and features vary, but all offer you a convenient exercise option in your home.
Types of Treadmills
One of the most reliable, time-tested pieces of home gym equipment on the market today is the treadmill. What started out as a fairly basic machine has evolved into something a little more complex, however, with all kinds of fancy options available to average consumers. Here is some basic information to help you wade through all those bells and whistles, so you'll know what kind of treadmill will work best in your home gym. Treadmill Buying Guide
The treadmill is one of the most reliable, easy-to-use pieces of home gym equipment available. When you're choosing a treadmill, you'll need to think about whether you'll use it more for running or for walking, and you'll need to consider how much space you have for it. Then, you can choose between one of the types of treadmills available.
Treadmills vs Elliptical Trainers
New variations of tried-and-true exercise machines are always being introduced to the market as the technology of exercise equipment improves. Two exercise machines that have gained popularity are elliptical trainers and treadmills. A major advantage to elliptical trainers is that they possess little risk of injury to the knees, hips, back or ankles. Meanwhile, treadmills are home gym machines on which you can run, walk or jog. The treadmill has been in the marketplace for a long time and is a long-standing piece of standard equipment for most exercise enthusiasts. Elliptical Machines: Elliptical machines present a lower risk of injury to the body. This home gym machine allows the individual to stand in an upright position while supporting her upper body by holding onto the handrails. The individual is able to pick out what muscles to train by shifting the strength on the legs or the arms. This provides for a more flexible workout machine. The machine bears its name because it works to copy the foot's elliptical motion as well as the rotation of the hip during walking or running. Advantages of Elliptical Machines: Since elliptical machines work the upper and lower body, they help you reach your target heart rate more optimally, providing a better cardiovascular workout overall. Individuals can burn a larger number of calories in a shorter period of time. Muscles that benefit from this machine include the legs, shoulders, chest, biceps, triceps and the back. Elliptical machines are also relatively easy to operate and are energy efficient because they do not use much electricity. Treadmills: Traditional treadmills were developed to help you walk, run or jog. Treadmills differ in advantages as there are some machines that have programs that can be customized based on your weight and fitness level. You can also manually control the program to increase or decrease the speed, the incline or the duration of the workout. Walking on a traditional treadmill, however, creates more impact on the knees and hips and may be a cause of injury for some users. Advantages of Treadmills: Some treadmill models have a cushioned surface to support the knees and other parts of the body. With these models, there is a lower risk of injury and an increased level of comfort for the user. Moreover, treadmills provide you with the option to run, jog or walk in the comfort of the gym. Also, you can burn calories by increasing the heart rate, providing a good cardiovascular workout. Buy Home Gym Machines Back to Guides Directory Buy Home Gym Machines
How to Buy a Treadmill Online
Purchasing any type of home gym machine requires some thought and research. You will need to decide on the brand of exercise equipment that works best for you and the number of special features you require, among other considerations. This is particularly important when choosing a treadmill, especially when you're buying your home gym machine online. Decisions about buying a treadmill online should be made carefully, considering the use the machine will get, the space in which it will be placed and the budget range set for the purchase.
Best Reasons to Train on Treadmills
Running is one of the best fitness exercises you can do. But while there are lots of obstacles and excuses that get in the way of a running routine, treadmills eliminate a lot of those problems. Treadmill running is convenient, safe and effective. Running on a treadmill helps you keep in shape during the winter and can be a great way to get started as a runner.
Features Commonly Found on Treadmills
Fitting exercise into your busy schedule can be a challenge. Treadmills make it easier to budget exercise into your day by allowing you to run or walk whenever you want. You don't have to worry about weather or time of day or going to a gym. You can hop right on the treadmill in your home gym and get a cardio workout that's customized to your needs whenever you feel like it. However, not all treadmills are created equal. Today's treadmills come with a slew of different features, which can be baffling if you don't know what they all do. We've compiled a brief list of features commonly found on treadmills, so you know what you're looking at as you shop for treadmills.
How to Select an Elliptical Trainer
They help you lose weight and tone your body, but elliptical trainers do it in a way that is less stressful on the joints than stair climbers and treadmills. If you're looking for a great cardiovascular workout that tones your arms and legs and is easy on your joints, an elliptical trainer, also called an elliptical machine or an elliptical cross trainer, may be the way to go. There is no shortage of choices in home elliptical trainers, from gym-style cross-trainers to mini-steppers. Select an elliptical machine based on your goals, your fitness level, your finances and the features you desire in a home gym machine.
Elliptical Trainer Buying Guide
Elliptical trainers mix elements of treadmills, stationary bicycles, stair steppers and other exercise machines to offer a full-body workout (also called a total fitness workout) that minimizes joint stress and other negatives, giving the user the best workout possible. This elliptical trainer buying guide will help you figure out how to buy elliptical trainers that best meet your needs.
How to Compare Elliptical Trainers
Elliptical trainers allow you to burn about the same number of calories you would by jogging. However, you can exercise on an elliptical trainer at any time, no matter what the weather is like outside. In addition, using an elliptical trainer instead of a treadmill or other home gym machine helps you avoid injuring your knees, hips, back and ankles. There are several types of elliptical machines available. By making an informed comparison, you can select the best home gym machine for you.
How to Get Fit for Kili

Getting yourself in the best shape possible will not only ensure that you make the best Kilimanjaro summit attempt possible; it will make your time climbing the mountain much more enjoyable. So get ready to spend a lot of time on the treadmill.
Fitness Clothing Buying Guide
Before you start considering athletic wear options, think about the type of exercise you'll be doing. If you've joined a gym or you're taking an aerobics class, then you'll need workout clothes that are comfortable when you're indoors. If you prefer doing yoga over running on a treadmill, then you'll need to look for clothes that let you stretch on the floor. Once you have an idea about the exercise you'll be doing, you can start shopping for the right women's workout clothes.
Advantages of Using Elliptical Trainers
Competing with treadmills as the home gym machine of choice, elliptical trainers have grown enormously in popularity since they were released in the 1990s. Designed to reduce wear on joints while still offering an excellent cardiovascular workout, elliptical trainers have gathered a dedicated following of fitness enthusiasts for a number of good reasons. Keep reading to learn about some of the advantages of adding an elliptical machine to your home gym.
What to Pack for Africa's Highest Peak
Imagine that you are planning a trip that will take you from the equator to Antarctica in seven days. Now imagine that you have to limit the amount of gear you pack to 35 pounds or less. The task is getting more complicated. What kind of luggage would you choose and how would you pack for a trip that encompasses such extreme changes in climate and altitude? When Erica Davis, a paraplegic athlete, and Tara Butcher, a physically challenged athlete, climb Africa's highest peak, they will have to answer exactly those questions. The challenge: Mount Kilimanjaro rises from nearly sea level all the way up to 19,330 feet. The trail climbs from the hot bushland through rain forest, moorland, alpine desert and arctic glaciers up to the rocky Uhuru peak. A climb like Mt. Kili presents special challenges when it comes to luggage, clothing and gear. Being prepared for the weather and temperature extremes is a necessity, but it's also important not to pack too much. There is a 35-pound weight limit to each piece of luggage carried by a porter. Most climbers pack one 35-pound capacity bag to go up with a porter and one small daypack to carry up themselves. The daypack: Erica and Tara will have 7 days to summit Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro. As they pass from one ecological zone to the next, their needs will change and so will the contents of their daypacks. Each day Erica and Tara will repack their daypacks in anticipation of the specific challenges of the day's journey. In general, their daypacks will include things like water, snacks, dry clothing, waterproof gear and sunscreen. The importance of keeping clothing and gear dry cannot be overstated. When choosing a daypack, a small to medium backpack made of lightweight, moisture-resistant material that comes with a removable waterproof shell will be ideal. It's also helpful if the backpack has convenient access to a water bottle compartment or can accommodate a water bladder. Plenty of pockets, zipper compartments and hooks are also handy. What to pack: A sturdy but lightweight water-repellant duffel bag with a capacity of about 35 pounds is ideal for the trek to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The bag needs to have room for plenty of layers of breathable, moisture-wicking clothing and layers of fleece clothing, as well as a waterproof layer. To save space, it's a good idea to pack clothing that does double duty, such as pants that easily convert into shorts. Aside from clothing, the climb will also require accessories like sunglasses, hats and gloves, plus equipment like trekking poles and a headlamp, as well as toiletries like sunscreen, insect repellent and a first-aid kit. Support the Challenged Athletes Foundation: Overstock.com and the C.H.E.K Institute are co-sponsoring Erica and Tara's climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in order to raise awareness for athletes with physical challenges who wish to participate and compete in sports. Portions of the proceeds will benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF). CAF raises funds to give physically challenged athletes the opportunity to stay active and competitive in the sports they love. To show your support for physically challenged athletes like Erica and Tara, donate now to the Challenged Athletes Foundation for the Fit 4 Kili Climb.
