Ok for home use, not gym quality
This "EZ Elliptical-09 Trainer" is good for home use. If you are used to a big expensive one at the gym it wont even compare. It took a few hours to assemble. Being a former automotive technician, I applied a heavy duty wheel/chassis grease to all of the friction points and joints. I also used medium strength lock-tight (the blue stuff) on many of the bolts to insure they wouldn't back out with repeated use. The construction to include frame thickness and welds appear to be of good quality. It has 8 different resistance adjustments from easy (1) to hard (8) via a twisting knob that pulls on a cable like that of a bicycle brake cable or an automotive throttle cable. I'm a 5'8" male at 185lbs and this machine works well for me. Slight amount of swaying when in use but not horrible. Some of the things I do not like about it; to use the moving (outside) handlebars it forces me to lean forward and I find it to be a rather awkward position, so I don't use them very much. The computer seems generic and I think it is programed for a sit down bike because when I finish an hour work out, it says I went 12 miles and only burned 180 calories. Those numbers seem like they are way off to me. And lastly, I remember reading that this machine has "adjustable foot pedals". This claim is completely false. You CAN NOT adjust the pedals on this machine, unless you want to drill additional holes in the frame, which I'm sure would void the warranty. Since I purchased the 4 year warranty, I will not be drilling any holes in the frame to adjust the foot pedals position. If none of the above issues bother you however, then this machine will probably work for you. I give it a 3 star (average) rating.
