I bought this clock (I did not buy from Overstock) for my daughter who sleeps on the top bunk bed and complained that she had to lean out of bed to see her old clock, thinking the projecting time on the ceiling would be a solution, but I was wrong. The projection display automatically shuts off after 10 minutes and must be re-activated by pressing a small button on the clock, which doesn't help the situation at all. This is the scenario on battery operation. I don't know if the projection would stay on if plugged into the wall because, of course, the cord is not included. I expect that even if the projection stayed on when plugged it, you would burn out the bulbs rather quickly and thus have another useless piece of plastic junk that we are meant to dispose of. Additionally, at least on battery operation (with fresh batteries), the actual time projection is very poor AND it does not project the time and the picture simultaneously--well, you can't see the time projection if the picture is also on. You can, of course, toggle between the two, but again, it only stays on for 10 minutes so can't be used for a nightlight either. The buttons to set and operate the clock are all very small and located around the center of the clock display, and because of the design of the unit, it's easy to accidentally press a button when you are moving it around, making it not very user-friendly. Overall, very disappointed and will be returning it.
The screen to see the actual time is very small, the picture that shows on the ceiling is also pretty small. The clock takes batteries unless you want to purchse the plug in for it. Also the clock fell off the nightstand one time and the batteries came loose and we had to reset the clock...which is not the easiest thing to do. Very disappointed that i paid so much for such a horrible product.
I had to return this. It's a cute idea, but unfortunately another example of poor quality. The projection feature is cute and my girls loved it, but the directions were vague, at best. We could not determine how to toggle the alarm on and off. There is no indicator. Also, when I set the alarm for AM, it would go off at PM. Since we couldn't figure out how to turn the alarm off, it went off every night at 8:00 during their winter break until I finally removed the batteries and sent it back. Very disappointing Christmas present.

) set time: hold down "clock" button for five seconds, then use up and down arrows to change, and press "clock" button once to toggle between month/day/year/hour/minute. Try it a few times b/c sometimes it just goes to the alarm setting (i don't know why, i think it's a glitch).
2) set alarm: hold down "alarm" button for 5 seconds, use up and down arrows to change, press "alarm" button once to toggle between hour/minute. press "clock" button to return to clock
3) turn on/off alarm: press "alarm" button once, press up to turn alarm on and press up again to turn alarm off. press "clock" button to return to clock
4) to project the images: push the buttons that look like video cameras. to focus the image, rotate the cylinder around the lens that projects the image. on the daisy clock, there's a button on top that you can use to flip the projected image of the time upside down. use the dial next to the lens-cylinders to select a different image (you may need to point the cylinders in a different direction to reach the dial)
