As another reviewer listed it is a bit noisy. Even so I really did like it and the child did too. After 4 weeks the plastic became so brittle it just started cracking and fell apart. I took it back to the place of purchase and they promptly gave me a refund. This is built to be a throw away item.

I bought this to place as a night light in a spare room that my grandson naps in. At the age of 20 months, he suddenly became afraid of the dark, and the previous lamp I was using as a night light would create "scary" shadows in the room. He loves watching the fish in my living aquarium, so after reading other reviews on this, I decided to try it. He loves it...so much that my daughter bought one for his own room at their home. He now sleeps through the night, talking to his fish before falling asleep. Just make sure it is out of reach to tiny hands as this item is electrical and not a toy. I also like that it comes with a paper describing all of the sealife pictured in the aquarium so as the little ones get older, they can learn more about the fish, etc. Although this lamp is a little pricier than others, I think it is worth the money. My daughter found hers for half the price I spent...lucky find! My only issue is how to change the bulb when it burns out.

This was a fabulous gift idea for a child from Discovery Kids. It looks like an aquarium that lights up. My nephew- at the age of 3- was captivated. He is really in to fishing and fish, and this seemed like a perfect gift. He recognized and could name some of the fish. I am not sure how it would impress older children, but for younger children, it is a precious gift.
