A most tranquil lamp. We've bought others, some as gifts; also, I have one for our 18 year old cat to pacify her, and one in the barn for my lone 33 years old horse.

I bought this lamp for my 3 year old grandson. I thought it would be a cute item for his room and something he would enjoy watching. I was kind of disappointed in the product. i guess I thought it would be more animated somehow, more realistic, but in reality the lamp is made so when you turn it on it rotates around giving the impression of fish swimming around and around. He looked at it and promptly ignored it. So I am debating returning it as I do not think it is worth the price.

The motor was loud to begin with (I bought 4 as gifts and one for my daughter and they were ALL this way). We plugged in the one for my daughter and it worked for a total of ONE night. The motors are loud on all 5. I was really bummed because the concept is good. I bought ours at *** for MUCH cheaper than offered on this site though.

Got this for my toddler who is currently into a certain cartoon movie about a fish. This aquarium has several of the types of fish from the movie, including a clownfish. She just loves it! Very cool, very entertaining, very relaxing! The one thing that I wish was differant would be for it to have a dimmer switch. In a dark room it is very bright, too bright as a nightlight for my daughter. She still has it in her room and we put it on while I read to her and she gets settled down for the night. The fishes swimming along create a very relaxing environment! It still works great and hasn't broken despite being knocked to the floor several times by kids. Overall a great buy!

Another friend of mine gave this as a gift and the little 18-month-old started at it for hours.

As another reviewer listed it is a bit noisy. Even so I really did like it and the child did too. After 4 weeks the plastic became so brittle it just started cracking and fell apart. I took it back to the place of purchase and they promptly gave me a refund. This is built to be a throw away item.

I bought this to place as a night light in a spare room that my grandson naps in. At the age of 20 months, he suddenly became afraid of the dark, and the previous lamp I was using as a night light would create "scary" shadows in the room. He loves watching the fish in my living aquarium, so after reading other reviews on this, I decided to try it. He loves it...so much that my daughter bought one for his own room at their home. He now sleeps through the night, talking to his fish before falling asleep. Just make sure it is out of reach to tiny hands as this item is electrical and not a toy. I also like that it comes with a paper describing all of the sealife pictured in the aquarium so as the little ones get older, they can learn more about the fish, etc. Although this lamp is a little pricier than others, I think it is worth the money. My daughter found hers for half the price I spent...lucky find! My only issue is how to change the bulb when it burns out.

This was a fabulous gift idea for a child from Discovery Kids. It looks like an aquarium that lights up. My nephew- at the age of 3- was captivated. He is really in to fishing and fish, and this seemed like a perfect gift. He recognized and could name some of the fish. I am not sure how it would impress older children, but for younger children, it is a precious gift.

It's a cool toy and a great price - but I bought it thinking that I could put it in my baby's nursery. The directions say in big bold letters to never leave it on in a childs room unattanded. Now I don't know what to do with the thing.
