I bought a Gen 1 unit from Bushnell (Equinox) a year ago and was quite satisfied with it as Im not a hunter and just used night vision scope for fun at times watching the bats and night beasts. I was happy with it unless I got occasion to test the Gen 3 Discovery5x Bravo unit from Armasight a couple of days ago and now seriously thinking over to purchase it. The only minus as of the scope is the price which is rather high. But the quality range is amazing. Under less than half moon condition I managed to identify small objects and animals out to 400 yards distance in a very precise manner. The Bravo intensifier provides clean image with powerful resolution rate which is so proper of Gen 3. It gives no hint to have some interference either in the center of eyepiece or image edges around. As for design and ergonomics The Discovery5x is very easy to operate and adjust. I have tried it both handheld and tripod mounted and need to say that eyepiece is very comfortable and is individually adapted quickly. Well, nothing negative to point out, this Armasight scope allows high-end performance to the user. As soon as got enough funds I will buy it without any scruples.
