Deluxe Hoist System with Accessory Straps

Using hoist to store kayaks on garage ceiling. Installed directly to the ceiling joists per instructions. Simple to install, probably took 1/2 hour with two of us working on it. pulleys work well though it does take bit of muscle to lift 65 pound kayak. Ropes are be little bit tricky to get the hang of the release for the safety, but better safer than sorry! Overall great install- now have two of these in garage, working well.

I recently bought two tandem kayaks that weigh 75-80 pounds apiece and needed out-of-the-way storage for them. I picked up two of these hoist systems from Overstock to do the job. They work as advertised and I now have my kayaks suspended from the ceiling in my garage. Easy installation and they hold up to 120 pounds. While pulling an 80-pound kayak up to the ceiling takes a bit of strength, they go up easy and come down easy as well. Overstock's price on the hoist was easily HALF what I found the same product on other websites.

Good hoist system and fairly easy to assemble. The straps are a little short for me, but the kayak I have is about 35" wide. Overall, very good.

For the money, this is a great design, and a very good product. Easy to install, and quality product are the two things that come to mind for this hoisting system. My kayak is on the heavy side, so it does take strength to hoist it, but you could hardly purchase the pieces making up this system for the price they offer it for. I also like the safety feature for not releasing the kayak when overhead - very simple yet effective. I recommend this product !

This system works well. I have a 2 man Kayak and It is all that I would want to lift with system. It takes a lot of force to lift this Kayak. The hooks that come with the assembly seem a little flimsy to me. I think this would be great for sothing 100lbs or under. The lag bolts that came with system, I had problems with the heads stripping with trying to tighten them up. I used a drill to make pilot holes and even put oil on the threads but still had difficulty with the heads stripping. I had to use vice grips to finish tightening up the lags.
