I bought this tent because I often camp alone and read a few reviews stating it could be set up by one person. I had no problems at all setting it up. It was quick and easy. Enough space for two large dogs and the ridiculous amount of stuff I bring camping (home away from home). We had a heavy dew during the nights but the tent stayed dry and it was warm inside with the door and windows zipped closed. I'm guessing the temperature dropped to 40. I would suggest a ground cover under the tent to protect the floor. Some sharp rocks were stressing the floor even with the old tent floor I used as a ground cover.

I couldn't be happier with this tent. It described the amount of space very well and lived up to my expectations.

First of all this "3-person tent" is HUGE! That is, compared to all my other tents I have been using. Plenty of interior space inside this tent. Nice square floor. Simple and basic. All the things I love about a tent. The tent is quick and simple to pitch. Utilizes clips that attach to the 9.5 mm aluminum poles. The tent uses rings and pins instead of the more common gromments which is ok with me. No worries about gromments pulling out of the nylon webbing. The tent is sturdy when fully pitched/guyed out.

The Alps Mountaineering Extreme III Outfitter Tent is the finest tent I've ever purchased or owned. This tent is particularly well designed, and very well made. This tent will accommodate two campers comfortably (although I will likely continue to use it primarily as a solo camper tent as I am presently). The tent has two entrances (one on each side) with plenty of room for entering or exiting of two campers without interfering with one another), and it is particularly well ventilated. I used the tent for the first time at a campground deep in the Everglades last week with the rain fly. It rained very heavily that evening, and I remained bone dry. The design of the rain fly is great as well as it includes two vestibules (one for each entrance/exit) which can be used as additional storage areas for keeping your gear, shoes, etc. dry in rainy conditions. The tent is also aerodynamically designed to withstand strong winds, so this too is a major plus considering I got drenched during an intense and very windy evening thunderstorm late last summer when using my old tent. The value of these Alps Mountaineering tents is incredible since they complete very strongly with tents that cost two to four times as much as these do.

I purchased this tent for an upcoming weekend camping trip. I would be the only one in the tent. the enclosed instruction sheet that came with the tent are a bit confusing. If you do an internet search for the make/model of the tent you'll get clearer directions on setting up the tent. The tent material is as expected lightweight so it will probably be prone to easy tearing especially if you plan on entering the tent with shoes on. As suggested you should use some sort of ground cloth/tarp on the ground then set the tent up on top of it. I slept in the tent for several nights in my backyard as well as several hours during the day. I also bought a twin sized single level air bed for comfort purposes. The air bed fit well inside the text though I would advise to only partially inflate it prior to putting it in the tent because it is debatable as to whether or not it would easily fit through the doorway of the tent without causing damage to either the tent or air bed. The actual tent setup was a cinch assuming that you use the online directions. Based on it being extremely light it would be a perfect tent for backpacking and bike riding. The screen-mesh roof is great for star gazing as well as fresh air circulation combined with the door screen. Getting the rain cover set up right takes some practice that should be accomplished before the rain comes. Overall, it is an excellent tent for the price. No complaints here.

Item was a gift and we will assemble this tent as soon as it stops raining in upstate Minnesota. It appears to have all the right items and looks to be a perfect fit. Thanks

This product showed all the needed qualities of any great tent. It was durable, managing to survive one night of rain and second of storm (high winds as well as rain). It was spacious, a little more than 5 feet tall, and enough room for sleeping ware and baggage. However, I might add that, despite the name, it's good for 4 people. There is still space needed for gear and other baggage. With 4 sleeping bags, there was just enough extra room needed. Otherwise, great tent that withstood a very windy storm and hard rain.

I actually purchased this tent for my dogs! We have 5 small dogs that sleep in our garage. We live in Iowa so the temp in the garage can get a but chilly. We had been using a space heater to heat the entire garage but then a light bulb went on when I saw this tent and decided it would be much easier to heat a small tent than the entore garage! It works very well and our dogs love their new house. I realize this is a rather unconventional review for a tent but, it is what it is! The tent did not come with instructions but it was easy to figure out how to set it up. There are toggle latches that keep the windows and/or doors and screens pulled open and the floor is waterproof. The fact that the floor material curves up about 10 inches on all sides, I think would keep even a substantial rain out and therefore those inside (even people) dry.

You'll want to practice folding this tent back up. Three reasonably intelligent adults have worked three days on trying to fold this tent back up, with no luck. Also a 6 foot long camping cot will not fit inside this tent. Rwo adults can fit, but must be less than 5'8" tall.

As a Boy Scout parent, we have been out in the wind, rain, snow and cold and this product line stands up. The Troop has very pricey*** tents, that are great, but ALPS are just as good, if not better, and half the price. We bought an older 3-man version of this in the winter of 2012 and since then we have told every camper that comes along to check out the ALPS Mountaineering line. As you can imagine, teenage boys are not exactly easy on their gear. Beyond the zipper yanking, throwing, horsing around and then a damp "just stuff it in the bag so we can get out of here" attitudes our tent has more than proved itself! Do yourself a favor and go with ALPS Mountaineering. I can't attest to their lighter backpacking tents, but their larger, what I consider car-camping models are durable, easy to set up, very rain resistant, and extremely cost effective. You would be a fool to spend your hard earned money on just a name. These guys take camping seriously, recognize what the consumer needs, and deliver. Bravo ALPS Mountaineering and thank goodness O.Co found you!

We bought this for our son in law and did a lot of research in the process. This tent is exactly right for a family of 5. It is big enough but not huge so set up is quite doable for two in just a few minutes. The front and back entrances are good and bad with 3 little boys. But, for the most part, it's a plus. All the going in and out is stressful on one doorway. With this tent, 2 entrances share the wear and tear. Very few tents in this size have the 2 room feature. It's nice when Mom and Dad are changing clothes and sleeping with the kids to have that privacy. Very durable, quality made tent.

Have not really used yet because of the weather. The actual tent is great but I always thoutht a rainfly should have been included with the tent... When I saw the rainfly as I jumped on it. we will see more this summer.

Simply put: do not buy a tent through ***, or other big camping distributors because normally you would pay hundreds more for a tent of this quality. I got a great price, and when I contacted customer support because the price increased between the day I looked at it, and the day of purchase, Overstock even credited me back that difference. So it went from being a good price, to a great one. Given this is my first purchase here, I would have to give high ratings for every step of the process. Now I have an awesome family tent to use on all of our camping trips. Would I purchase things like this again from here? Absolutely. Overstock seems to be the place to find these type of bargains.

I just got back from 2 weeks of car-camping in the upper mid-west. The tent performed flawlessly. I would not recommend this tent to a back-packer, it is WAY too heavy for that (about 11 lbs). But in the car-camping and canoeing arena it performs well. Floor is a very thick nylon, poles are heavy duty aluminum. pegs are adequate for sheltered areas. In high winds (25+ mph) the tent really held up, but I had nailed the fly down with 12" steel spikes. The tent is spacious for 1-2 people, 3 would be a crowd. The tent's footprint is pretty small, but the rain-fly, with two big vestibules, has a surprisingly large footprint. Final word, this is a nice sturdy tent that I would not want to carry more than a few feet. (due to its weight)

I got this to replace a cutesy play tent that was defective. It's ten times the tent and half the price. My nine year old helped put it up and figured it out with me. It was simple to assemble and the rain shield went on so easily she did it herself. Big windows and all screened. Large door opening for easy in and out. We set it up in our upstairs bedroom area for the winter but it will go outside in the summer. I can't predict how it will be, set up, outside but it's very big and four medium sized girls slept in it plus one 5'10" high school girl. It's a really nice tent and I would recommend it to anyone who is mechanically challenged, like me.

We enjoyed this tent often camping, with our grandchildren (2) and a dog. We all had plenty of room for 4- 6 might be too tight for us. We love the tent though, it really is a 2 minute put up. I could do it by myself! Would buy it again! Thanks Overstock

Choosing a sleeping bag is a highly individual process which should be based on several important factors -- including features, style, material and versatility. Before you begin shopping for a sleeping bag, know exactly what you will need it for. Will you be using it for year-round camping and hiking or only camping and outdoor activities in spring or summer? Will you be sleeping in your vehicle, in a tent or under the stars? What types of materials do you prefer? Once that you have determined the desired traits you would like in a sleeping bag, you can begin shopping in earnest. Here are the steps you'll need to take as you narrow your search.
If you enjoy camping, chances are so does your dog. With the right dog supplies and a sense of adventure, camping with your dog can be fun and easy. He'll enjoy the fresh air and great outdoors as much as you, if not more. Pack up the car with plenty of pet supplies and get ready for excited tail wagging as you camp, hike, and fish. He may even join in a campfire song or two with you.
A good sleeping bag is the most valuable piece of camping gear you can own. Sleeping bags are designed to protect you from feeling cold, yet the purpose of a sleeping bag isn't really to warm you; it's to help maintain your inner body temperature. There are many styles and varieties of sleeping bags available for camping and hiking, making it seem daunting to find the right one. Learning how to buy a sleeping bag isn't as difficult as it can seem, however. This sleeping bag buying guide is designed to help you find the sleeping bags that will best suit your needs, whether you're taking a long backpacking trip or simply pitching a tent in the back yard.
A good sleeping bag can make all the difference when you're sleeping outdoors. Sleeping bags keep you warm at night and protect you from the elements, whether you're camping with or without a tent. You'll want to treat your sleeping bag as well as it does you. Proper sleeping bag care will help your sleeping bags perform well and last longer. Here are some general care tips to prolong the life of your sleeping bags.
An inflatable mattress is indispensible as extra bedroom furniture when you have houseguests or as a comfortable resting place when you're enjoying the great outdoors (from the safety of a tent). To make your air bed even more appealing, make sure you treat it like a regular bed; an inflatable mattress will benefit from luxurious sheets as much as any other mattress. Choose the right sheets for your bedroom furniture and treat your guests to an inflatable mattress experience they'll never forget.
If you dislike sleeping on the cold, hard ground, a sleeping pad underneath your sleeping bag can really save you a night of discomfort. A sleeping pad is also essential for keeping your sleeping bag protected when you're roughing it. When you're packing up your sleeping bag, tent and other camping gear, don't forget a sleeping pad to keep you comfortable in the great outdoors. There are three basic types of sleeping pads available for use with sleeping bags: air mattresses,, foam pads and self-inflating pads. The type of pad you'll need depends on what kind of camping you'll be doing and how much padding you prefer.
Have you ever been told to "take a hike?" Well, you no longer have to tie your gear to the end of a stick and carry it over your shoulder. Instead, you can choose the backpack that is best for the type of hike you want to take.
