I've used this sight on my Springfield XDM 9mm for a few trips to the range, now, and it has definitely improved my target shooting accuracy. Additionally, this sight gives me instant feedback during dry fire practice to help me smooth out the rough spots in my grip and trigger pull. While overall I am very pleased with this sight, I must confess that I am having a hard time visualizing myself using this weapon/sight combo in self-defense. I suppose it would be fine if I have the time to draw my weapon, remove the dust cover, switch on power to the sight, and move it around until I acquire the red dot in the sight. But I suspect most real world situations will not afford me that much time and composure. I may need to keep looking for a solution to my "old eyes" problem for my concealed carry weapon.
The Fasfire II is both a GREAT product and a frustrating one too. I have it on a Ruger Mark III mounted in the rear sight dovetail using the appropriate Burris mount. it's low, clean and fantastic compared to a red dot n a rail or a huge red dot. It's the perfect size and the dot is crisp. The frustration comes from three points. first, in order to change batteries you have to literally take the sight off the gun to put the new battery in the base. No idea how long the battery will last but that's not a great set up. Next, it's a real pain to sight in this red dot. You have to unlock 2 lock screws and then you can mess with the elevation and windage screws. It's hard to figure out how much to move it. There's a little guide you can put the provided little screw driver through to help you judge how much your moving it but it's fickle. Took me 20+ rounds with my .22 to get it reasonably well sighted in. The third frustration is the real lack of quality holster options once you put the red dot on it. There are several offerings that are "okay" if you put a rail and scope or large red dot on it but the Burris is so small these don't work well with it. So it's a superp product and once it is mounted and sighted in it's simply perfect because it's small and light and a great little red dot. I'm still looking for the perfect holster option that covers the whole gun with the exception of a small notch for the Burris. I will say I think this combination looks better than all the large red dots you see people put up top.
Great product. At the least it is $100 cheaper than any other micro reflex sight that is intended on being SLIDE MOUNTED. great for staying on target after the first shot when shooting fast.
