bright, and sturdy
I havent actually opened the package yet because its a christmas gift for my son. But when I received the package the foam seems to be sturdy (wont crumble). The colors are great (good for boy or girl). I was kind of worried because I saw some other mats for sale for a lower price, but these appear to be better quality.

Play Mat
I purchased this mat for my great-granddaughter and her older sister so that they could play in the washroom area of the basement while their mother washed clothes. I saw that it was immediately put to good use.

Safe and Fun Play Place
Our 8-month-old son loves to play on this floor mat. He enjoys pulling up the framing pieces and gumming them. (We may have to watch that more closely when his teeth come in.) The varied textures on the mat are my favorite part, and what sets this mat apart from other, cheaper versions. I haven't seen any other alphabet mat that comes close, and I'm very happy with our purchase. This mat provides a large, safe play place, and a soft place to land for baby's head when he inevitably falls over. Our 9-year-old twins enjoy playing with our little one on this mat too. They have fun making words and phrases with the letters, so not only does this mat provide an entertaining play place, but it doubles as a learning toy. It's also easy to wipe clean when needed. On another positive note, the mat did not have any strong odor when we unwrapped it from its packaging, which allowed us to begin using it right away.
