  • Good Workout but You Won't Lose Weight Right Away

The Bowflex Treadclimber will give you a good workout, but don't expect to lose weight right away. I didn't begin to lose any weight until after using the machine for about 4 weeks (3 times a week and dieting). But at least I felt my legs toning up and my metabolism increase and my endurance increase. Keep weight loss expectations realistic and aim for losing 1 or 2 pounds a week (after the initial 4 weeks). Remember that it takes burning 500 calories more than you intake every day for 7 days to lose 1 pound of fat (or burning about 3500 calories in one week). Thus you should cut at least 500 calories from your current daily intake - and if possible, try to keep your total daily intake to about 1200 calories for women and 1500 calories for men. The recommended Bowflex diet is very difficult to do since the calories are so restricted. There are also a few quirks with the TC that I discovered after purchase. 1) You should have a mat (exercise mat or otherwise) underneath the machine to protect the carpet/floor and absorb noise. I just used one of those plastic chair mats. 2) You need to pay attention to your workout. I thought that I could watch TV while on the TC but I discovered that I need to really pay attention to how I step so that I get the full benefit of the workout. Now I just listen to music. 3) The way the handle bars are situated, it almost forces you to hold on while you are working out. For the TC3000, the handles and the control panel are too high for me to swing my arms (also, I'm 5 foot 2 inches) and easily adjust the speed and such. I think the handles and control panel are set lower for some of the other models (like the TC6000). However, the area you actually hold onto becomes quite slippery if you work up a sweat and it becomes very difficult to hang on. I just tightly tied a small face cloth to either side - silly looking but effective. Also, don't hold onto the handles from the top (hands on top) - I strained my forearms, wrist and hands for the first week of use - holding on from the side is more ergonomical. 4) Consider wearing a wristband to wipe away sweat. Depending on how fast you are walking and the resistance level, it can be very difficult to wipe away sweat with a towel or your shirt while still walking. Twice (while going 2.5 mph and at a resistance of 12) I accidentally stepped on part of the non-moving plastic part of the treadles while trying to wipe away sweat and I nearly tripped and I was nearly thrown off. Gave me quite a scare! Conversely, you can step off or slow it down sufficiently, but when I work up a good sweat, slowing down often just to wipe away sweat is not as effective to my workout. 5) Lastly, the resistance cylinders need to be designed better. With my refurbished unit, one cylinder was immediately slightly looser than the other (you can tell when you step down on the treadle) so I had to call to get new ones. Which was not a hassel at all (a plus for their customer service), but I've been told by several friends who also have TCs (why I purchased mine in the first place) that the resistance cylinders usually need to be replaced much more frequently (or breakdown) than other parts (Bowflex customer service is aware of this fact, which is probably why it was not a hassel to get new ones). If you think you need new resistance cylinders, get them before your 6 month warranty is up (it says 6 month warranty on Motor, Electronics, Hydraulic Resistance Cylinders, and All Other Parts in the manual). Overall, I like my TC. It gives a good workout. And despite a few quirks and the fact that two people are required to put it together (heavy parts) and the not so stylish design - I have (and would) recommended this machine to friends for its low-impact yet high-calorie burning workout. It beats going to the gym for me and I plan on continuing to use it in the future.

  • Great Machine

Great piece of machine. You have to be realistic in what you are getting and in what you are doing. I read many of the reviews and I think some people expect the machine to come already put together. Of course the machine is going to be bulky and somewhat challenging to put together. My experience has been great. I love the machine and get great results from it. I find it very challenging. The machine is not specially designed for just one person so it will take a little compensation on the part of the individual using it. Not everyone is built the same but the machine will definitely work for all who use it consistently. My routine is to go for 3 minutes to warm up at 2 - 2.2 mph then go 5 minutes at 3.2 then back down to 3.0 for 2 min then up to 3.5 for 5 min then back down to 3.3 for 2 min then up to 3.7 for 5 min then back off 2mph for 2 min then up to 4.0 mph. This really raises your heartrate and does allow a slight "rest" break as you go. I'll keep that routine for 30 min then depending on the amount of time that I have to workout (kids, family) I'll back it down 5mph every 3 min to "cool down". According to the machine, I'll burn anywhere from 440-500 calories and go between 1.75-2 miles. I tried the straight walking at a slow pace and increasing every 3 min but found this not nearly as challenging as the interval training. I had some problems with the machine with the speed sensor and the treadles , they actually had to send me a new treadle set. It cost me nothing. It would have cost me $500 they told me if I had to buy them. I thought it would because I bought it off Overstock. But I called Overstock and got the receipt from the date I purchased it (I could not find my copy but Overstock still had it on file) and faxed it to the Bowflex people and even though I bought it thru Overstock, it was still under warranty. They even sent me extra speed sensors because these apparently wear out faster then anything on the machine. I don't think you can go wrong with this purchase. Just be sensible in what you are getting. If something is wrong are missing, call the Bowflex people and they will be very helpful. You do have rights when you purchase this machine because according to the customer service reps that I spoke with "Overstock is an authorized dealer for Bowflex Treadclimber". That means that they have to work to help you.

  • Bowflex Treadclimber 3000 Atl review

I'm happy we received the unit from overstock. Very weary as to how the process would transpire. It was a smooth process and received the unit much quicker as stated on the site and by the overstock rep. .(Received the unit in a weeks time.) Now as for the installation, it does take a while and folks must be patient and follow the instructions to the letter. My only complaint is that the instructions could have been a tab-bit more concise/clearer. Must say that reading the reviews about the product from previous buyers did set my expectations as to how long the installation would take. For me it took about 4.5-5 hours ,which appears to be the Avg, but well worth it. The unit was in great condition when taken out of the box, thus far(only had it for 4 days) works like a champ and have not run into any problems.

  • Treadclimbing and loving it!

Our treadclimber came in four large boxes. The UPS driver smiled at me and told me he would see me in a week to pick it all back up. He explained that he has delivered many treadclimbers, but people couldn't put them together so they'd send them back. It took my husband only about an hour to put the machine together. First he placed all of the pieces out on the floor then followed the direction one at a time. It came with all new screws and was not difficult to put together. Everything looked brand new except for a few scratches and a small dent on the front bar pieces. The treadclimber is not as large as a standard treadmill. It is easy to operate and work out on. The treadclimber works great for us because I like a stairclimber and my husband likes a treadmill. It is great to have the two options. We use our treadclimber every day and love it! If it is your true desire to have a nice cardio machine at home, the treadclimber will work! We are not unhappy with any part of our purchase at all! Thanks Overstock.com for another great purchase!!

  • Great Machine at a Great Price!

When I saw the size of the boxes that arrived I was a bit afraid of what I had gotten myself into. Much to my surprise, once it was all unpacked , it didn't seem so daunting and my husband and I had it assembled in less than an hour. Couldn't get the machine to calibrate but a quick call to customer service at Bowflex fixed that problem instantly and when I mentioned a little scratch on the machine they had a replacement piece out to me in 2 days time. It does take up a bit more room than I had anticipated (even though I had checked the measurements beforehand) but it's certainly very manageable and offers a really good workout!

I should have bought this from the dealer. It is sitting in my gym for 6 years. It makes weird noisy. I tried getting it fixed but the warranty ran out.

  • Bowflex treadclimber..

We purchased the Bowflex treadclimber about two weeks ago. Within a week of ordering it, it arrived at the door. The directions to assemble the machine ar enot the greatest, but we managed to get it together within a few hours. We also have a treadmill, eliptical and stationary bike along with our bowflex home gym and nothing has given us a work out quiet like the treadclimber. I normally do 1 hours on one of the above items a day. My first time on the treadclimber after 1/2 hour I was sweating more then I ever have on any other machine.

  • Glad we purchased

I cannot resist a good deal and wanted to see if there was any way to save a few dollars on this expensive exercise machine. I read many of the reviews on Overstock that particularly dealt with the "refurbished" units. We took the plunge, saw the three large boxes arrive in just a short few days and stared at them for a few more a little intimidated by what we may have gotten ourselves into. We found an entire evening we could dedicate to the assembly and jumped. It definitely took two adults and we used our 16 year old son for a few minutes as well. This product was in excellent shape and only showed a little wear in one little piece. Otherwise seemed completely new. The instructions were adequate to good to follow and we methodically assembled it to the point of placing it in the room in position, plugging in and turning it on!! It worked! We've had no problems. I love that it takes less room than a "cross country ski" machine and has a pleasant "humming sound" when in operation. Not too loud. I like that this "open box" item also came with a 6 month warranty and that Bowflex seems committed to its products should you need any assistance.

  • Bowflex Threadclimber

The ThreadClimber arrived in great condition. There were a couple of screws that were broken in the motor. I reported the problems and a new motor was immediately shipped to me. The product look brand new and it works wonderfully.

  • Bowflex Treadclimber 3000 Refurbished

The unit came packaged in 3 boxes, no different from a new treadclimber, one could absolutely not tell the difference. It works very well and we are using it daily.
