We have been using this montior for 1 month and have already started looking for a new one. It is great if you are running or walking. However, our purchase was made as a component to our new workout program. We have found two major flaws in both of the monitors purchased. 1) if you sweat the monitor isn't accurate - if you get a reading at all & 2) it takes a pretty long time (typically more than 20s, which is a long time when working out) to read your heart rate. With that in mind, I have already discouraged others, who are using this same workout routine, from purchasing this monitor.
I bought this heart monitor because it gives pulse readings without a bulky transmitter wrapped around your chest. In my experience, it gives accurate pulse readings on pressing the button for 5 or 6 seconds AT REST ONLY. It did not give me accurate readings while jogging, and it took longer to get any reading(about 15-20 seconds) while in motion. I also have a heart monitor watch with a transmitter, and that gives me continuous readings while jogging. My conclusion is you need a transmitter if you want accurate pulse readings while in motion. For readings at rest, this watch is just fine.
I have trouble getting it to give me a desent pulse read out. thought that maybe the battery may be low changed it and the readings were off the chart I get the same with the colorie counter . at frist I thought it was close to the one on my stationary bike until I had it on at rest and got the same reading for the same time that I exercise .
The monitor works as I expect it should. However, I was disappointed because I assumed it provided a constant reading of my pulse (heart rate) and did not know that it required me to hold my finger on a button for awhile each time I wanted to check my heart rate. I think the description could have been more detailed and clear on the function of the instrument.....
The watch does exactly what I wanted it to do for preparing for marathons. Concerned that heart rate may be inaccurate(?). I would buy this same model again.
