I was looking for a low cost way to support my rifles for cleaning and bore sighting. This works, but it's not heavy duty. You have to use reasonable care when positioning the rifle on the rest, before running a cleaning rod and patch through the barrel. It has been very useful for mounting scope rings and sights and for bore sighting with a Leupold bore sighter. You would be absolutely right if you decided to leave this mount at home instead of using it as a rest for sighting in your rifle at the shooting range. In general, I'd say it's worth the money.

I bought this bipod for bench rest shooting to eliminate carrying sand bags everywhere I go. The height is nice for prone shooting, but a little too high for bench rest. The bipod is not as solid as I expected given the Harris reputation, but it is manageable. It tends to twist (flex) when trying to hold the the windage directly on the target, elevation is set by the leg height and is rock solid. I would buy this again, but would get a shorter version for bench rest shooting to hopefully better emulate the stability of sandbags. This Bipod is easy to mount or unmount. Mounting is done by a simple thumbscrew adjustment using a sling mount. The spring loaded legs work as advertised. The leg extensions are infinitely adjustable, but have a spring return system so the intermediate adjustments are a little difficult. The full length is set by a stop so it is much easier.

Good bipod. Had to file down main thread in order to make it fit to the swivel on the forward stock. Could just be a problem for my Savage 22-250. Did not try it on any other rifles.

I'm not a competitive bench rest shooter. My use is only recreation and testing the accuracy of my reloads. For my needs this rest does the job as well as I could hope for. One star deducted for the fact that if you pick the unit up by it's base and turn it upside down the top half of the rest is unsecured and will fall to the ground. More specifically, there's a bearing that can be damaged if this happens and I don't know how easy it would be to find a replacement. A rear bag is a smart addition to this front rest. I used the Edgewood Minigator in my evaluation of this rest and the combo worked well. One important note: The range I shoot at has the target stands at a lower elevation then the firing line. This means I need an extra-tall rear bag to get the sights on target even with this rest adjusted to the lowest elevation.

I received an email from Overstock.com regarding a discount. I never thought that they carried accessories for firearms. I was in the market for a good, light, bipod for my Remington 700. So I did a quick google search and the Harris bipod link to Overstock popped up. I've heard nothing but great things about Harris' ultralight series. I do a lot of backcountry hunting. Weight means everything when I have to climb thousands of vertical feet. But I didn't want to break the bank either. This bipod is solid, well built and light. The price was right. Cheaper than any other site. Great deal.

Wish I had looked at this in the store before purchasing. Does well with non magazine rifles (my .308) but with AR/AK platforms, the central pipe there blocks the magazine. Might be better with small magazines, but I was a little disappointed. Will be keeping for rifle adjusting.

This is heavy duty and well built like all FAB products are. It is a little bigger and heavier than I imagined and will most likely only mount it to go to the range or hunting. Think I would rather have something a bit smaller to mount on gun for self defense and home protection.
