Fantastic Safe for mounting to a shelf and wall. Weight is all in the door and could be easily broken into from the back or bottom with the right tools if not mounted and stolen. Mounting in a location that allows for access to only the door would be optimal. (there are mounting holes in bottom and back of safe) The fingerprint recognition works wonderfully and is a must have for quick access. Great buy.

This safe is awesome! I can access the contents in a fraction of the time it takes to get into my combination safe. I now feel more confident that, if the need arises, I can be in a position to protect my home and/or family literally within seconds. I used a tip from someone else's review and programed my print in a number of different positions, and I have not had a problem opening the safe on the first try. I was impressed with the quality of this safe. The biometric mechanism worked very well. To make sure it worked nearly 100% of the time on the first try, I saved about eight different thumb prints, each in a slightly different position. Very roomy and offers the protection of firearms from anyone but yourself. It is NOT a vault, in the sense that you can carry it away, but if you want a safe place to put your firearms but with pretty quick access, this is a very good product.

I purchased an additional one of these after the first. With small children I wanted something very safe and virtually free from being entered. While I'd prefer no batteries, putting the change-out on the same annual cycle as smoke alarms should render this safe available at all times. This is a roomy safe that will house multiple items - am very happy with the purchase thus far. Thanks.

Easy to setup, nice product, this is not the safe you want to store a fortune, but it does it's job, Lower rating because when you lock this you need to hold the door closed for a few seconds or else it doesn't lock right. Pretty expensive for a steel box, it does get the job done.

This is a wonderful safe, it is easy to program, easy to use, and easy to find a place for it because it isn't too big. Perfect for hand guns, prescription medicines, paperwork, ect... I wish I had purchased this sooner. Also, this safe opens faster than one with a combination. Great Buy!!

Have been using this safe for almost 6 mos now. It works pretty well as far as thumbprint recognition goes. It can handle up to 30 prints. To assist in robust operation, I scanned my right thumbprint 5 different times in slightly different positions. This seems to help ensure 100% positive identification each time I try to open it. Without doing that extra step, the recognition is a little picky and won't always open, which I suppose is a good thing.The other aspects of this safe (construction, weight, strength) are all very good. Three back-wall mounting holes are provided for securing the safe. Two locking bolts provide door security, but that's not enough to meet the CA DOJ requirement for a firearms storage locker (a three-point locking system is required).

I originally set out to find the least expensive biometric gun safe I could find without compromising too much quality. The Barska seemed to qualify. When I received it I was pleasantly surprised. It was heavy and sturdy. It came with batteries already installed into the biometric lock. It was also much bigger than I expected. You can put three guns in there easy. Maybe more depending on the sizes of your guns. When you take it out of the box your first thought will be, where are the instructions? You will think that they were left out by mistake. You have to put your finger on the lock and open it. It will open with any fingerprint by default until you program it. Inside you will find the instructions on a 81/2 X 11 size of heavy stock paper. So far I have been very happy with it. No problems whatsover. Works well!

Great handgun safe and at the best price for it I could find anywhere. Plus I got $15 off. Very easy to program and operate. I programmed all 10 of my fingers but have usually used my thumb hundreds of times and it only failed to open a couple of times because my finger was not positioned center. Usually opens in about a second. Plenty of room for six handguns of different sizes plus a few other small items like keys and cash. My wife doesn't like the way it looks on my night stand but I didn't give her any choice and she does like the security. I also feel very safe that my weapons are secure from my little kids but loaded and available in seconds should they be necessary. I highly recommend this safe to anyone who wants a secure way to store their handguns and have them quickly availble.Be SAFE and protect yourself and your FAMILY.

I love the product and the peace of mind it gives me everything works great and its easy to register you finger print. Overstock was a very easy website to purchase the product from. Purchasing this product was the easiest I've ever experienced. I'd definately purchase another product from this website. The product will not only hold your loaded gun, but jewlery and any other valuables that you may have with lots of free space left over. I received this product within three days of purchase and have enjoyed it ever since.

Only had safe a few weeks, not really used yet. Easy to set the prints into safe. It is very sensative to your print. Thumb or finger has to held just as it was input. Will not open if there is too much pressure on the screen or the thumb is not in the same position as when it was initally read. I think it just going to take practice. It is large enough that there should have been a shelf. I do like the safe. I like the price I paid and the shipping costs. It was a great deal from Overstock. No waiting, shipped immediately.

I just got this. It arrived super fast. The fingerprint reader took two fingerprints from me and my wife easily and it has open the door every time. Not super fast, but as fast or faster than a combination safe. I have a finger touch sequence-style safe at work and this one is much much faster and easier and best of all, no combo or key to remember or find. Get them before they are gone. It is not fireproof, but not many are.....
