Backpacks aren't just for backpackers. Anyone who enjoys hiking or the outdoors should own a good backpack or two. Backpacks make it much easier to carry the essential items with you whenever you go hiking. They are also a good way to stay organized when doing other outdoor activities like camping, fishing or rock climbing. With the huge selection of backpacks at, it's easy to find a backpack to make your adventures easier.
Backpacks come in a wide range of sizes, from backpacking backpacks to daypacks to lumbar packs. Backpacking backpacks will have a fairly rigid frame and hold enough gear for multi-day camping excursions. The capacity of these packs is usually over 55 liters and should provide enough room for a backpacking tent, compressed sleeping bag, clothing, water, food and first-aid supplies.
Daypacks come in many different sizes as well and are most commonly used for hiking and miscellaneous, daily use. Some daypacks come with hydration systems that allow you to sip water while you hike, and most daypacks will at least be compatible with a hydration bladder. A daypack should give you enough room for some extra clothing, a few snacks, some water and a small first-aid kit.
Lumbar packs are even smaller and will usually only attach to your body with a padded waist belt. Lumbar packs are most commonly used by trail runners, fishermen and hikers only going out for a couple hours in warm weather. Lumbar packs are also very useful for holding a small amount of water, food and first-aid supplies.
Check out the great selection of hiking backpacks at, where backpacks are on sale every day. And as always, you'll receive's excellent customer service.

I have used mountain smith products for years and this is another example of a their well made products. Excellent design, just the right amount of pockets, great shoulder straps and waist band. I am in a wheelchair now and I use this pack for shopping and can carry a fair amount of weight for its size. I used to be a professional mountain guide and search & rescue and have a used a number of packs over a 30 year period and I highly recommend this pack for its size, quality, and function. This is an excellent "overnighter"size as a light down bag, clothes, stove/pan, water bottles, 10 essentials would easily fit into this pack. RTD

With my focus this year shifting from mostly cycling to covering more outdoor activities, High Peak’s offer to let me try out their Alpinismo 45 backpack couldn’t have come at a better time. My current pack is sized just a bit too small for day-long adventures, and after seven years, was starting to show its age, so I jumped at the chance to test out something more modern. High Peak offers a fairly comprehensive line of camping gear, with backpacks, tents, sleeping bags and sleeping pads, all offering thoughtful design, high quality construction, and very reasonable prices. The Alpinismo 45 weighs only 3lbs, but has a generous capacity, listed as both 45 liters and 3,000 cubic inches. (According to my calculator, there’s about a 250 cubic inch difference between the two measurements, but it carried all my gear) It’s constructed of nylon that should wear well while at least being somewhat water-resistant, but not waterproof. In the past, I found most packs were too narrow across the s...

No complaints with the pack, but Overstock sent a different color than the one pictured. The color they sent I could've bought cheaper elsewhere. First time buyer from Overstock and they ruin it from the start. Nice going.

I was concerned that this item would be too small but it is very roomy, nice quality and holds a lot! It's a bit big for my son right now but he will grow into it. Durable, nice frame, easy to use and the quality appears excellent. Nice pack and would purchase again if needed.
