I purchased two compasses from overstock. One is functional for outdoor use. The Oriental astrological compass is interesting and a nice design, but I'm unsure of the purpose of it's use other than telling direction. I ordered it because of the ornamental case, but it's function is a mystery.

This compass is a good deal for the price. It seems to be made well and is more accurate than the digital ones I own. The only problem is I ordered the solid black colored one as advertised on the web page and I received black with a brass colored bezel.

I need a compass for my european vacation, just wanted an inexpensive one but not a piece of junk. This is it. It is easy to read, has some heft to it without being weighty and closes up. As other reviewers have said the box is really cheap looking but the instructions are on it. I guess if it's for a gift you could cut the back off the box and put it in a gift box and it would be just fine. A great deal on a nice compass.

I have searched all over looking for a quality, inexpensive compass and I finally found it here at Overstock! I was so excited to get it. It is durable metal and accurate readings. I am pleasantly surprised at the quality and price.

I gave this as a gift to my 8 year old nephew--he loves the outdoors! The compass itself has a great look--really cool--and seems very durable but I have to agree with the other reviewers that the packaging leaves much to be desired. Some information and directions are pre-printed on the box so you can't really give the compass without including the box with it.

This compass was a Christmas gift for my son who is 11 and he absolutely loves it. However, it is well made and not a toy. It would be suitable for anyone that NEEDS a compass for any reason or for a child's imaginary adventures!

I gave this to my 14 year old nephew for Christmas and he loved it. He was excited about receivng it and is looking forward in going fishing, hunting and being in the great out doors to try it out. The packaging for this compass is really bad. The box looks very cheap... it was embarrassing to give this compass in the box it came in but I needed to keep the instructions with the compass and the only instructions for this compass was written on the side of the box. The company needs to redesign the box big time!
