this knife has it all the durability holds an edge very well stays sharp i do a lot of hunting and butchering of my own venison and bear meat and countless ducks and geese i use it for breaking pelvic bones put it this way im so hard on my knives most break a blade or the handle in the 1st yr but this is a superman of any knife ive ever used i wish i could have found these a long time ago the handle is very comfortable and looks great i get nuthing but comments from my other hunting buddies that they all want one so we'll see what santa brings to them for next season.i wish all sportsman has one of these

This knife was a gift for the young man in our house, he was extremely happy with it, the sheath is especially nice with sharpening stone!

I have owned my knife since Christmas, 1982, and have carried it throughout the USA & Canada on big game hunts for over 20 years; and it has served well its purpose on dozens of big game animals. I always found the size and weight to be basicly unnoice-able until it came time to pull it out and start the heavy duty work it was make for. Although I am no longer able to hunt I still remove it from the safe and remember those many times I have carried it in magnificently beautiful areas of North America; and when looking on the worn blade I still see my name and the date received engraved in the steel. i bought this for my dad for his birthday. he absolutley loved it. he uses every time we skin an animal and it works really good

Not the highest quality but for the price it's good. Did not come with the stone pictured.

I bought this knife largely based on the positive reviews posted here. I was not disappointed. The knife arrived in the mail fairly quickly (about 3 business days). Very glad since I wanted it for deer hunting in about 10 days. It was very sharp from the start. Construction seems to be pretty good for a knife at this price. BTW... the description here makes it sound like a folding lockback knife, but it is indeed a fixed blade knife as shown in the picture. In fact, this knife is VERY similar to the new China-made Schrade Uncle Henry Golden Spike knife which is sold for a bit more money elsewhere. I suspect it is manufactured by the same factory in China. It's only a notch lower quality as the older USA-made Schrades, but pretty darn close and at a much more reasonable price. (My first knife was a two-blade Schrade pocket knife that I got when I was 12. Unfortunately, I lost it around age 26.) During the hunt I shot a baby deer and used this knife to field dress it. I cut the hide, meat, and membranes nicely. Even the breastbone and pelvis cut easily (but keep in mind, this was only a very small deer). Not sure how it would hold up to cutting bones on a big buck. (Hopefully I'll have a chance to find out next year.) After the field dressing, the knife still feels as sharp as the day it came in the mail. The blade on this knife isn't quite as wide as a lot of other fixed blade knives which makes me think that it might do a good job for skinning as well. (Last year I used my fish fillet knife for skinning my deer.) I'll probably sharpen the edge just a bit before attempting skinning with it. The sheath appears to be well-made of thick leather and will do the job. I was a little disappointed that the color of the leather and stitching were more of an orange-tan than a brown-tan as shown in the photo. Even though this is a very nice looking knife, it'll never be a collector's item since it's made in China and the Dakota name doesn't carry real prestige. It will, however, serve its intended purpose (as a functional hunting knife) quite well.

I bought the knives for my Grandsons. I was pleasantly surprised when I got them. They are very sharp and seem to be good quality knives.

the knife is great and everything i thought it would be from previewing online. the only thing i found "yucky" is the packaging was smashed - if it had been something less sturdy, it would have been damaged. but i didn't mark that against this product cuz it obviously wasn't going to get damaged very easily.

i purchased the 9.5in hunting knife before our annual hog hunt it held its edge great even though hog hide is known to dull knives quickly this one actualy held its edge through the whole hog my son n father liked it so much i bearly got to use it so for my sons birthday n for fathers day ive already ordered 2 more of these knives

I haven't really used the knife; so its functionality and durability haven't really been assessed well; it's appearance and apparent workmanship are very good.

I purchased this for two reasons. 1. I wanted a knife that was easy to handle and store on a belt for camping and 2. As an accessory for a costume at a reasonable price. I achieved both with this one knife and am very pleased with it. You can't go wrong with this one!

Good quality knife, leather sheath is well constructed. Perfect knife for young person getting started in hunting.

My husband and I bought this knife for his father for Father's Day. My father-in-law hunts, and is a knife collecter as well, and when he saw this knife, he automatically loved it. The thing he loved best was the fact that this knife has finger grips where you can comfortably hold it. All in all, I rate this knife with the highest score possible, and would definitely recommend this knife to someone else. You will LOVE this knife, and it would be the perfect present for that hunter or knife collector in your life.

I bought this knife as a gift for my grandson, Andrew, and he is so proud of it that he actually wears it when he is not even hunting! It is has great strength and elegance, and he says the weight, balance and feel of it is perfect. I think he will enjoy it for many years.
