I Bought this as a gift, After receiving it I found it to be much better then expected. Very nice for the money. They will get many years of use from the rods and reels. I would highly rcommend this to anyone looking for fishing gear.

This is a not too fancy but complete fishing set for a family to begin lite fishing for entertainment and many good meals. The quality is great for the price and the add on tackle and fishing guide is great for beginners and children. We got the set when we moved to a rental on a fresh water canal for the family and have had a lot of fun with it (but you do need to pick up some extra tackle for Bass.)

We loved this rod/reel set. As novice fishermen, we wanted something easy to assemble and use. They did tangle kind of easy but I believe a lot of that fault is with the fishermen rather than the poles. We fished off of a houseboat and found casting easy and forgiving. Shipping was fast and easy. I tried to find a similar deal at local out doors stores here in Houston and nothing came close to this deal.

THIS IS A GREAT GIFT FOR ANY MAN WHO LOVES TO FISH...IT WILL START A GREAT COLLECTION FOR THEM TO BE ABLE TO CHOOSE THE COLOR AND MOOD THEY ARE IN FOR THE DAY...OR MAYBE WHAT MOOD THEY THINK THE FISH ARE IN TODAY.... GAVE TO MY GRAND SON AND HE LOVES THEM...NICE QUALITY ITEMS

Have bought many items from Overstock and have been very satisfied. I purchased these fishing rods to be used by my grand children and was dissappointed at best when I received them.Rods were very flimsy and the reels were poorly assembled I suspect that they will be used once, if they last. They are a one day disposable item. I would only recommend them to someone going light fisheing for the day, then throw the rods away.

This is the perfect Christmas Gift for my nephews. Being a bulk order, I was able to give them and their father and grandfather a fishing rod for them to hone their developing skills and passion for the outdoors.

I HAVE 3 GRANDCHILDREN SO THIS FIT THE BILL. NOT TOP OF THE LINE EQUIPMENT BUT A GOOD VALUE FOR THE MONEY. GREAT FOR BEGINNERS.

what a treat this has been. we have not been fishing in years but now we have a reason to go, new gear. of course we need a little practice but we are getting there. a lot of fun, great value and these for years to come.

the rod and reels are great for the money but did not get any tackle or the book with it as posted in the 3rd pic

I bought these for a little getaway lake house and our part-time novice fishermen and ladies. Three poles, all different colors. Take them out of the package and drop in a line for a great time. Because the poles are different colors, when the big fish gets caught, we will know who the Big Fish of the day is! You will likely want to add a few of your own additions to the starter set of tackle that is included.

Have triplets and wanted to play around with fishing. The kids are 13 and did great with them. Worth the money, above average quality for the price. I am sure an above average fisherman would want a higher quality rod but for us they are perfect.

that's it really, just ok. not quite as nice as i had expected, didn't get the nice colours as shown on the website. also not too impressed with the extra stuff it came with. would i buy it again, probably not!

This is a great product for the money. You won't find anything close to it at retail, that's for sure. Although the rods are best suited for light to medium size fish (ie. fresh water rainbow trout, crappies, etc) you won't be disappointed. My fifteen year old son caught his first two pound cat fish with this combo in a relatively short time after we started fishing and won our fishing pool. Needless to say, He's now "hooked" on fishing.

this kit is really great for the price. I'm sure it's not going to last a lifetime, but it should last for a few years if I take halfway decent care of them. I gave one to my wife. one to my oldest son and I took one. My son and I tried them out up in northern CA. and we both ended-up catching multiple fish. The reels seemed to work well and the rods were more than durable enough to handle the trout we were after. I'd say for the price they were a great bargain.

Grandpa received this for Christmas at our vacation home in Fl. Two days later was out with the grandkids fishing on the river. The poles were a big hit and served the purpose very well...even caught fish!

My sons fish in the summer and fall when they are at camp or at our country home on the bay. Every year they break a pole. This kit is perfect. It has three fishing poles and all the stuff they need to have a good time. They are not the heaviest or strongest looking - but, they are fine for amateurs and the price is good for 3 poles. It's a nice gift to give to a family with kids so dad can take the kids out fishing and everyone can have his own pole. I recommend it for these purposes.

I bought this gift for my best friend who loves to fish. Although I am clueless in the world of fishing, I read the other reviews of this product and bought it. On Christmas day, what a sight when my friend opened up the gift. Not only was she exstatic but she had to try them each out right in my living rm. She said they were awesome and the fact that they have locking mechanisms for the line made it the best present for her this holiday. So, from her words and mine "Thank You".
