Alps Mountainering Taurus 4AL
from Bethelehem PA,  Oct 21, 2009

I have been looking for several months for a tent to fit my needs. I am a Scout leader that needs a tent that will be easy to set up, & light weight for one night trips. Also I needed to be able to fit my son if need be or my wife if she decides to go. I also needed something that as my son's trips get bigger, as he advances in Scouts that I could back pack with as well. And with out saying, protection from the elements and not be overly expensive. I am like most fathers who get involved with Scouts meaning I am not going to want something that I have to crawl around in. I wanted something with some head room as well. We are not as young as we used to be. This is a tall list of wants, and I tried several brand name tents simply in my back yard. I bought and sent back two with great reviews. However this tent fits all my needs and is high quality. I have not read one negative review on this tent or any other tent, or products they make. My first trip was in heavy rain, not a drop in my tent, or in my boots in the vestibule! Great product! A little heavy for the back packing trips, but it will work. I am not complaining! I read these reviews as you are & will not buy a product with out one. I hope this helps. They are also a Scout friendly company.Overstock was also very easy to deal with.

Great tent.
from Southern California,  Apr 24, 2012

This is a very nice tent. I probably should have purchased a 3 person tent but other than that this is perfect. Great quality and easy to put up. It is also very durable. I had it in high winds and this tent was solid as a rock.

Quality Tent, Good Price
from St. Louis, MO,  Jul 26, 2011

This tent sets up quickly and seems to be constructed very well. It's sized perfectly for two people and their gear. It's also fairly light weight and packs up pretty small. Overall good product for the money.

Superb tent!
from Ithaca, New York,  Jun 17, 2011

My daughter and I purchased this tent to use at Bonnaroo, a big music festival. We really didn't want to deal with camping inconveniences, and this tent was PERFECT! We based our selection on other reviews, and the high praise this tent got was warranted! It was spacious and well vented and easy to set up- it was also very aesthetically pleasing!

Fit for a Queen (Bed)
 from Ohio,  Oct 18, 2010

The ten is large enough for a queen-sized air mattress. It comfortably fits two people with space for gear. The two doors and vestibules make it easy to get in and out while leaving dirty or muddy boots outside of the tent. It's easy to setup, take down, and store in the ample storage bag. It's easier to see out of the "windows" than it is for anyone to see in. This is truly a three season tent. The tub style floor is adequate for the job, but if you want something that will hold-up for a scout troop or particularly rough and tumble types, use a tarp (or footprint) or purchase the more expensive Outfitter version.

Taurus 4 AL Tent
 from Ohio,  Jun 2, 2010

I researched several tents for motorcycle camping before I decided to buy this tent for the price and quality. After I used the tent for camping aver the recent memorial weekend, I was very satisfied with the ALPS Taurus 4 AL. First this tent is very easy to set up and of good quality, The only problem I had with the tent was when I didn't zip one of the rain fly doors and that night we had a large storm come through with lots of rain, my side of the tent stayed dry but my wifes side with the unziped fly got wet. But other than that this is a good tent for the money.

Excellent for short trips
 from Delaware,  May 7, 2010

We purchased this tent to use for overnight camping trips when our larger more labor-intensive tent would be overkill. This tent is very quick and easy to set up, and folds into a small size for convenient storage. I don't know that I would try to fit four people in there, however. Two of us found it to be comfortable, and we were able to bring most of our small belongings in with us.

Great Tent
from Overland Park, KS,  Jan 24, 2010

I read the reviews from other users before buying this tent. They were very helpful. We bought the tent for doing high adventure trips with scouts, because it is light, good quality, and a good price compared to all the big brands. Pros. We used this tent in 30 - 40 degree weather with rain and pitched it in the dark. It kept us (the leaders) warm and dry and took us 3 or 4 minutes to set up. It is the easiest tent to set up that I have ever come across. It lets you take a peak outside through a couple clear plastic windows and has a door/vestibule on the front and back to leave your muddy shoes. Cons. I can't find anything bad about this tent. It is as mentioned in other reviews not really a 4 man tent. I find this with most tents though - that if it says 4 man, it means 3 men comfortably (4 scouts easily fit). As long as you know this when you purchase the tent, you will not be disappointed.

Good value
from Memphis, TN,  Nov 29, 2009

I have used this tent on a weekend camping trip. It's rated as a four man tent, but truely it could handle no more than three. Only myself and my 7 yr old slept in it. Roomey enough for the two of us and a couple bags of hunting gear. The vestibules are nice, just not large by any means. Overall I think Alps company has a quality and durable tent. It should be great as a light weight summer tent. Despite being a little small as rated, I would purchase this product again.
