I went camping and the bottom of our tent got a wee bit wet (not a lot of water but enough to get those without a sleeping mat fairly wet), but I stayed dry on my comfy mat. haha! but it is a bit big to carry around so keep that in mind.
I use the mat to replace a self-inflating air mat. The air mat, even when fully inflated, did not have enough separation from the ground to keep me from laying directly on my hip on the ground while sleeping. With this foam mat, I at least have a cushion between me and the ground and it is good at insulating at the same time. Very similar to Thermarest at a lower cost. I roll it tight, strap it to my bike when on a tour and use it for camping. Very light weight.
We bought the mats to use for our survival gear. These are things we have to use in the case some emergency occurs and we have to get away fast. We were looking for something comfortable and light, without paying an exorbitant price. The mats mostly fit those qualifications. However, as we put our gear together, we find that they are way too big, rolled up, to be practical to carry in a getaway situation where we may have to carry everything on our backs.
We decided to put them on our travel trailer where we are in need of padding under sleeping bags, to use when our grandkids go camping with us. We didn't want to bring big heavy pads, so these pads are perfect. They are so light it will not add anything to our already overweight trailer. They are perfect for kids, but a little thin for adults.
this pad is fine for normal camping but hiking the back country was a inconvenient due to the big roll i had on my back. pad stayed dry on damp rainy nights and did not rip or tear despite snagging on every tree and bush for 13 days in the mountains.
