For the price, this is a good enough back extension bench. Pros: 1) This bench has integrated foot pads, like a professional grade bench does, and others in this price range do not; 2) The construction is heavy enough for back extensions, the parts fit well together, and the painting is good quality; 3) The pads are dense, good quality, likewise with plastic components; 4) It took only a few minutes to assemble with a socket and box-end wrench; and 5) The bench extends in and out easily if you put a little white lithium grease around the collar. Cons: 1) Mine has a very slight defect (which does not affect performance) in the angle at which the leg-pad cross bar attaches to the frame. This may or may not be typically of others. My wife thinks I'm too picky, but it's just not quite square; 2) Dip bars are worthless for me; they are tucked too far underneath the pads, to the point that I wonder if I misunderstand the intent. Even if they were not, I'm 6' 4" and 230, and the tubing for the extending portion is too light to have extended for my height, and still support my weight. I only tried it once, but I'm sure the deflection I cause at my height/weight would bend the bar so it would no longer retract into the frame. All-in-all, I'm happy with the bench, but if I really needed the dip feature, at my size, I would need to buy a professional grade bench. If you're lighter and shorter, this will probably work well for both dips and back extensions.Read More
I did a lot of research prior to chosing and buying this back extension and this was the cheapest I could find on the net. The product is great, no defects, all the parts were there, pads were intact, and instructions were easy to follow. I wanted this addition to strengthen and stretch my lower back and core muscles and it works great, my lateral and lower torso muscles are getting stronger and tighter. Just what I wanted and what my lower back needed prior to winter. I would recommend this for others but also tell you that you need to work your middle and lower abs with a different exercise/machine as well for symmetry.Read More

I have used the one that allows you to be totally horizonal , until I used this one in a gym on vacation. This allows you to do dips as wells as a type of crunch. I found this not only strengthens your back it also tightens butt, back of legs and helps stomach muscles. This is well made, easy to put together and a good deal for the price.Read More

How to Use an Exercise Bench
Exercise benches are extremely versatile pieces of equipment. Although in gyms, exercise benches traditionally serve as a spot for bench presses and other barbell exercises, they are actually useful among weights and machines for working all of your muscle groups. They look simple, but they are very useful in a fitness routine, especially a weight lifting and cardiovascular workout plan. To properly use an exercise bench, think beyond bench pressing to the multitude of opportunities for including it in a general fitness plan that involves using a wide range of weights and machines.
Treadmills vs Elliptical Trainers
New variations of tried-and-true exercise machines are always being introduced to the market as the technology of exercise equipment improves. Two exercise machines that have gained popularity are elliptical trainers and treadmills. A major advantage to elliptical trainers is that they possess little risk of injury to the knees, hips, back or ankles. Meanwhile, treadmills are home gym machines on which you can run, walk or jog. The treadmill has been in the marketplace for a long time and is a long-standing piece of standard equipment for most exercise enthusiasts. Elliptical Machines: Elliptical machines present a lower risk of injury to the body. This home gym machine allows the individual to stand in an upright position while supporting her upper body by holding onto the handrails. The individual is able to pick out what muscles to train by shifting the strength on the legs or the arms. This provides for a more flexible workout machine. The machine bears its name because it works to copy the foot's elliptical motion as well as the rotation of the hip during walking or running. Advantages of Elliptical Machines: Since elliptical machines work the upper and lower body, they help you reach your target heart rate more optimally, providing a better cardiovascular workout overall. Individuals can burn a larger number of calories in a shorter period of time. Muscles that benefit from this machine include the legs, shoulders, chest, biceps, triceps and the back. Elliptical machines are also relatively easy to operate and are energy efficient because they do not use much electricity. Treadmills: Traditional treadmills were developed to help you walk, run or jog. Treadmills differ in advantages as there are some machines that have programs that can be customized based on your weight and fitness level. You can also manually control the program to increase or decrease the speed, the incline or the duration of the workout. Walking on a traditional treadmill, however, creates more impact on the knees and hips and may be a cause of injury for some users. Advantages of Treadmills: Some treadmill models have a cushioned surface to support the knees and other parts of the body. With these models, there is a lower risk of injury and an increased level of comfort for the user. Moreover, treadmills provide you with the option to run, jog or walk in the comfort of the gym. Also, you can burn calories by increasing the heart rate, providing a good cardiovascular workout. Buy Home Gym Machines Back to Guides Directory Buy Home Gym Machines
