This little stepper is doing a good job replacing a massive, and impossible-to-move treadmill, and doing it not bad at all! I am enjoying the ability to tuck it away from view, and put it in any room in my home versus a treadmill that had two tiny wheels built in to its frame, and needed two people pushing mightily to move it inches! That old treadmill couldn't be brought down stairs to the basement where we have a mini gym set up - because it was too wide and too tall to fit down the stairs! It became an eyesore in the living room for 3 years and I was determined to 'do better' with the next purchase - I wanted smaller, practical, transportable and an effective workout machine, and the Daytona Mini Stepper delivers all that for me.Canadians will wonder how long the shipping takes to arrive from the US, and I can say that, living in the remote north end of Alberta at the end of a dead end highway, it took just under 10 business days to travel from the United States through Canadian Customs and onward to me! The unit, plus packaging was easily handled by myself and the ladies at Canada Post. Some minor assembling was required and that involved installing a battery and attaching the display to the unit, which is easily read while on the stepper itself, but has a few different display possibilities you must chose between before you start it up. The stepper recalls where you left off last time, and will continue with count if you return to it within a four minute period, therefore a phone call will not ruin your workout if it is a short call! The stepper is wearing in a little, the first few exercise sessions were a little jerky, and it does require a good heavy stomp to count the steps on your counter, you cannot lightly tread on this model and still get 'credits' for your work, so its a bit like a personal trainer scolding you for less than full effort! I recommend you wear good support runners while using the stepper, the idea of no handrails to cling to, and therefore working your abs is true, really true and the sensation takes a little getting accustomed to - no hand support and heavily worked legs and abs and gluts are what you are getting. If you are looking for a way to challenge your cardiovascular system, this will work and work well, I searched the net and chose destinations for all that stepping - to the top of the CN Tower, the Leaning Tower of Piza, the Eiffel Tower, the gallery of St. Paul's Cathedral, to the crown of the Statue of Liberty etc., and was inspired by the idea of Ironman Competitions which usually feature stair climbing somewhere in the competition. Your only limit is your imagination to spice up a repetitive motion workout, a small mp3 player with headphones or planting your stepper in front of the tv will be spicier than staring at the wall, and are the methods I use to get me through to my goal today.
A friend bought this for me and I love it! Smooth and quiet and it's simple and fun to exercise on.Assembly was easy too. It took me about 2 minutes to connect the monitor to the stepper and I wasready to exercise.I use my new stepper while watching TV.
One of our friends has one of these and when my wife saw it she wanted one for herself, so I purchased one for her and she loves it.
I was very happy with the stepper. It's small and compact size makes it perfect for short, mild at home workout. Can store under bed or in the closet. Good quality. Very satisfied.
Hi I only had this for 2 months and it broke were the front adjustment screw goes in. The weld gave way If you are lucky enough to receive a better welded one may work longer
Don't waste your time....I thought this might be a good choice for my elderly parents (80's) after carefully reading reviews ( a lot of good) but I even had a hard time moving one step, it was really hard to push. My mother couldn't push one side at all, perhaps a good choice for a younger stronger person.
So far no complaints, well, the digital counter seems iffy, not really registering actual time stepped the way it should, and it did start squeaking about 4 uses into its lifetime. No real problem with either of those though: I have a watch and a clock and a can of 3 in 1 oil. I like it. It's more fluid and has a deeper range of step than the Sharper Image one I used for over a year, daily most weeks, and which finally snapped off one of its welded steps at the main weld. I also like its 250 pound weight rating, since that extra 10 pounds or so over the 200 mark is my major target of improvement. For the price and the functionality, I'd recommend it. If you want complete record-keeping functionality for some reason, I'd say you'll need to put out some more greenbacks.
After only 7 uses, the stepper has broken! The steel has split on the front. I will be returning this product for another product. If you do decide to purchase it, be sure to purchase the warranty.
I bought this stepper to help me rehab my legs. I have a spinal disease called adhesive arachnoiditis that is incureable. I need a good stepper to keep my legs strong and calves stretched out. I had a Nordic Trac and it was a good stepper, but like other steppers it had the cable system, and they all enventually break. The 2009 Daytona is built entirely different. It has two thick bars that control the back and forth movement instead of a weak cable. I had this stepper for only two weeks when the front of the stepper, where the tension bolt screws in, started stripping away from the frame. I called Overstock and they replaced it immediately (excellent customer care). I ordered the two-year replacement warranty (highly recommended) and I will send it back again if it breaks again. I weigh about 195 lbs and it is approved for up to 250 lbs. I can stay on it for a long time, but it shouldn't matter how long you use the stepper. It should hold up. I still think that this is a well built stepper and it gives a good workount to your legs.
We bought this stepper as a winter substitute to walking/running outdoors. So far it's been great and gives a nice workout. It doesn't take up much room and can be slid under the bed when not in use. The only complaint is that it can be squeaky until it's warmed up a little bit, which isn't the greatest for early morning workouts and sleeping kids. Otherwise, very pleased with it.
I bought this for my office on those days I can't go for a walk. Its been great and I've seen a change in my clothes. Its small and compact, but gives you a great workout. You really feel it in your legs! I've got the girls in the office all lined up to purchase their own!
Mini steppers seem to be all quite similar in design except for this one! Instead of using a flexible steel cable, which will wear out in time, to operate the two steps, this unit uses heavy steel bars that will last a very long time. It's the very best value I was able to find after some extensive searching! Finally, since a coupon for 10% arrived via email within a day of my order, Overstock folks were able to take the discount off the purchase, which made it an exceptional value, indeed!
Quiet and easy to use. I watch TV while burning calories on the stepper. Helps!
I ordered this product for my wife, she got a knee surgery and her therapist gave to her some exercises with a stepper. When this product arrived she was surprised because was same as the therapist used with her. Now she do her therapy in home and save twenty dollars every three days. I asked her opinion about this product and she answered , " Is fantastic!!! "
Pro Compact, can be put away anywhere Get a pretty good work-out considering its so compact Cons QUALITY!!! The plastic top on the foot pad developed a small hole after the first use; counter and time meter do not work Overall, I don't think its quite worth the price, but its great for a work-out when I can't get to the gym. I was even tricked into a longer work-out because the timer wasn't working, and I had worked out for about 30 minutes when it only registered 20!
I received the wrong item the first time (a box full of workout mats) but Overstock paid for return shipping of the mats and sent the Ministepper immediately to me, obviously. When I got the item I was so pleased at how it appeared, besides a small crack on one of my footplates that doesn't seem to affect the function at all and isn't getting any bigger with use. I also got the warranty, as per some other review that said it broke 6 months down the line or so... as for durability I will have to re-review at a later date on that subject! As of now I can say I am very satisfied, having used it everyday almost since it arrived and feeling the burn that I was looking for! As other reviews mention, this is great cardio but would need to be supplemented with separate ab and arm workouts to get the full body toning effect. I find balance is not an issue, though occasionally I lose my rhythm and teeter for a second :) If anything that goes to show the core is probably engaged to keep you balanced. My one major complaint is that because the step depth is so small, and the goal is to not let the step hit the ground, I find myself taking steps that are so shallow that the counter on the device doesn't count them! Also, if the machine senses you've stopped, it stops the timer as well- so this can be frustrating if you are using the Ministepper's timer to time your workout. But overall it is everything I expected it to be so go for it!! Healthy lifestyle is always a good investment.
It was what I ordered, but I should have known better to order the one with the handle in front for balance.
Thanks. I was looking for something like this. I was recently recuperating for surgery and this helps.
